I haven't found and RTD drinks that I like, so for my protein shakes I use Syntrax Nectar Cappucino, Syntrax Matrix Peanut Butter Cookie--both of those mixed with skim milk, and my favorite is the Unjury Strawberry Sorbet mixed with Crystal Light lemonade.

A big Hello to You ~ waves from Canada ~ smiley

Thank you for your post back. Okay, now this looks like a protein drink I could handle . I am worried about finding something that will not make me gag. lol

I am going to purchase a few different ones and try them before I start my pre op diet.

Congrats to you on having your surgery !! I look so forward to following your journey .

Talks soon Lori

P.S

There are some terrific reviews about Syntrax . .

I recommend getting samples. I've tried pretty much all of the Syntrax flavours and liked some, hated some, love the Micellar blends in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
We travel a lot and I carry small ziplocs with a scoop of Syntrax Micellar and a scoop of milk powder in each. They make it simple to have a shake on the fly - buy a bottle of water, drink a couple of ounces of the water, pour in the powder, shake and drink. No blender needed, no lumps, pleasant tasting and they don't have that funky "protein" smell or chemical aftertaste that so many do.

Thanks Kelly,

I checked a video out on YouTube and the gal said the same thing, sampler pack approximate price $13.00 .

I am going to try a few. I know from my past eating habits that when I find something I will eat or drink it to death. lol

I need to have some variety or I will get to the point that I can't stand the taste. Yes, that funky taste is what I'm talking about .

Well said Kelly . . chuckles

I have been making a list of ones to try.

Can I ask. . did you find that one particular protein shake filled you up faster than another ?

Talks soon

BTW Lori...I don't think we can buy Syntrax in Canada anymore.   Unless you have a US postal box, it's too expensive to have it shipped here as well.  Darn.  It was good stuff.  I have been drinking fit4ever lately, from Popeye's....

Your taste can change drastically from pre- to post op, so don't go buying a bunch of stuff in preparation.  It is really strange that what you might have liked before tastes awful, or you have absolutely no desire for, after surgery.  Example....I have drank my coffee black for over 30 years...now can't stand it that way and must have cream in it.  Go figure.......

Hi.  Go to a shop that provides shakes to body builders - get whey isolate protein shakes because you can digest it better.  I like the fruit flavoured ones - ie. cranberry-raspberry as they are lighter than the standard chocolate, vanilla, strawberry ones Costco/Walmart etc. have.  Mix them up with a bunch of ice and off you go.  I have sometimes added a tough of Crystal Light to change up the flavour as well.....If you have access to the shop called Popeye's they have a return policy that even if opened, you can exchange it for something else if you don't like it.  These shakes have about 100 cals per serving, I add more water than they recommend, but that's just me......they also have about 20-25 grams protein and usually no sugar in them, so all around are a superior choice.

Hi Jan,

OMG I am so glad you posted. A friend of mine who does body building informed me that "Popeye's" does the buy back policy.I was actually going to check there when I went shopping this week. I love hearing some one else " recommend" a place or certain  product. For any one else looking , Popeye's in just North of Chinook Center.

Like many others I have spoken with they try a product , hate it and now are stuck with it. Thank you for the wonderful news!!

And you can 'taste test' samples in the store of any type you wish...at least here in Victoria, so I assume all Popeye's are the same!  Best place to go as the varieties are endless!!!!!

Let me know what you finally buy; I am always curious!

And  BTW.....these are around 100 cals, 0 sugars, 0 fats and 20-25 proteins per serving.  So they are far superior to Ensure, Boost, etc.  We were taught a 5-5-5 rule......good to follow...... don't eat it if a serving has more than 5 grams fat,  5 grams sugar but eat it if the proteins are over 5 grams per serving.  A good rule of thumb when shopping!!!!!  And keep the carbs per serving low as well...the higher the 'bad' carbs - white processed flour, etc., the more you will end up craving sugars.............  Most people need to eat about 100 - 150 grams protein per day, and carbs should be low.  Even whole grain breads, etc., should not be consumed much as they are still carbs.  Go for good carbs in veggies, etc. and you will lose your weight a lot faster than including grains, brown rice, etc.  Besides, your stomach will be a lot smaller (roux en y), or you won't get hunger pangs (sleeve), so you can easily do without them.  Don't start on them and you won't miss them!!!!  I still limit my carbs and very rarely have bread, haven't had a potato in years, nor rice.  Use quinoa, lentils, etc if I must....
