Spa Lady vs. GoodLife
I've decided I'd like to join a gym, and have narrowed it down to these two in Calgary. I'm still pre-op and I'm extremely self conscious given my current weight. If I chose GoodLife it would be a women's only club. For those of you that belong to either, can you give me an idea of the overall feel of the club? Do you find that the clientele is older or younger? If you're overweight, do you feel judged or were you pressured into anything? I'm not looking to join any classes, I just want to be able to go in and use the equipment and be left alone by the staff. I don't want to join somewhere and feel like there's a bunch of cliques all around, I'd rather not feel like I'm back in high school! I will do a trial before I commit, but would like to hear what some people have to say.
And, wherever I do join, if anyone here is a member and looking for a workout partner, I'd be game! I'm looking at the Spa Lady in Canyon Meadows or the GoodLife in Deerfoot Meadows.
Thank you!
I just wanted to give you a cyber hug...please don't let your self consciousness hold you back from joining a gym. I look at anyone regardless of their size with admiration when they are in the gym or walking or biking etc. Try not to let old hurts cloud your judgement of others, I find most people very supportive if I give them a chance. You are doing yourself an excellent favor starting a workout routine pre-op. I feel I healed so much faster and did so much better post-op because of the time I put in the gym prior to surgery. You can do it! As my trainer says "Eye of the Tiger Woman"!!
