Lack of competency at RedDeer clinic

My doctor's staff faxed in my referral to the Red Deer clinic in October 2012.

I called in January just to check in- and at that time they said they had never received it. They needed 'proof' that it was originally sent in October.

My doctor's staff kindly resent the original referral immediately-- showing the original October date of referral. The Red Deer Clinic staff told me I was then added to the October group on the wait list.

Fast forward to this Wednesday-- after trying to call several times, no one answering the phone, one unreturned message, I finally spoke to a Gen Y who informed me that she doesn't know what happened but the mistake was never corrected on their end (maybe it was one of their staff who is now on maternity leave who made the error I was told??).

They need 'proof' again. My healthcare provider kindly called them AGAIN to sort things out, and said she felt like she was being interrogated. Since when is one healthcare professional going to lie to another healthcare professional? I think it's called ethical standards of care.

I tried calling the clinic first thing this morning to follow up. No answer. I left a message asking who I can write to as part of outlining my concerns with how they appear to have mishandled things.

Nothing frustrates me more than lack of competency. Let's see how long it takes them to call me back-- if they call back....

Our tax dollars hard at work.

I'm sorry things have gone so badly for you.  I am out of Red Deer as well and have had everything go smoothly.  They seem very professional and have already helped me a lot.  Sometimes things just happen...even if they are at the 99% of doing great...there's still the 1% that have a rough time.  Sorry it had to be you :(

I hope things look up from here :)
