Does anyone answer the phone at the Red Deer clinic?

I have tried several times now to call the Bariatric Clinic in Red Deer and have yet to get anything except an answering machine. I've only left one message, so I'm not pestering-- I'm trying to find out where I am at on the wait list for a first appointment (was referred in October).

Has anyone else had difficulty connecting to get information there? Maybe they don't have anyone who actually answers the phone?

Frustrating.

Hi, thanks for the reply. After 4 days of trying to call them during business hours I finally talked to a human.

That is very exciting for you- it sounds like surgery is happening soon for you?

May I ask- what kind of timeframe do they give you for the wait for surgery, after you first meet with them?

thanks :-)

They told me everyone's time from first going in to actual surgery is different. 6-16 months is what they said. I was referred in August 2012, had a call from them about 6 months later to go to an information session in March and then had my first visit with a nurse at the beginning of April.

I just started my journey with the Red Deer clinic, so I don't know a whole lot...what sort of questions do you have?

Well one happens after your first appointment?

The vary first time you go to the clinic it is an information session with a bunch of other people. The first one on one appointment at the clinic is with a nurse where you go over your history and and what you are looking to get out of the program. Most people are put on the one cup diet at that appointment. After that you make another appointment with the nurse for about a month later then you make your appointment to see the surgeon, psych, and get put on the list for a gastroscopy.
