I'm 14 months post op, RNY, and going to Med Hat to see Dr Nohr this Thursday for my panni consult. Does anyone know what the 'rules" are to qualify for this through Alberta health care?

Awesome - good luck!  I just did a quick search through Alberta Health and it says that if the physician deems it necessary.  Info was rather vague about it.

yeah! I cant find anything on what qualifies it as necessary. Ive seen posts by others who were not qualified for it by Dr Norh and others who were.... I really hope my extra tummy skin qualifies.... I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and wait for Thursday to get here!

I hope he says yes and books you quickly!

If he says no you do have another option. Your GP can refer you to a plastic surgeon. You just have to convince your GP that the skin is causing "issues." The criteria I've read is that the excess skin has to be causing issues (rashes, skin breakdown) or you need to have lost over 100.#

Good Luck and I'm sure you'll be approved. You look amazing.

I wish I could just go with a panni but my body shape would just look terrible if I did. I would have a hugh muffin top as my upper tummy just wouldn't let go of the weight.

I'm kind of afraid of that myself! I feel like my new body shape is pretty tubular... I have very little waist definition. Like even tho the fat is gone, I am straight up and down from my chest to my hips!

I'm just starting to think about that myself.  When I first had RNY I "knew" I WOULDN'T" get the panni, it seemed like a lot to go through for "vanity" :) fast forward a couple years, and I can see how much better my clothes would fit.  That I would like to tuck things in, that i would like to know my fat wasn't hanging out the bottom of my swim suit or cute undies.....  Things change.  So now the only thing holding me back is my procrastination...

I do however, have a consultation for my arm lift on monday!! Yeahme! My arms haven't realized I've lost 125lbs and that is one thing that has always been important for me.  I want to wear a tank top, dress with spaghetti straps... awwww so so excited for this step!  I hope its not too long of a wait, summers coming!

It is funny how our minds change. Tucking my roll in isn't fun! Can I ask how much it costs to have your arms done?
