tired of BEING HUNGRY on 1700 calories
You can vent anytime.
Sometime it's hard to adjust to new habits and it will take awhile but it does get easier. If you think 1700 is hard wait until after surgery and you're only eating 400-700 for a while. It'll change but there are still days when I only eat 800-900 calories. The adjustment is more mental after surgery.
You really need to evaluate your food choices when trying to lose weight. Beef and pork are usually higher in calories than fish and chicken. Ground turkey or chicken over hamburger. Over 1/2 your plate should be filled with veggies to keep the calories down but your tummy full. Don't drink your calories cause it's a waste. Eat an orange instead of drinking the juice. I use weigh****cher bread or little big bread instead of regular, it's smaller but at least the calories for 2 slice are less than 1 slice of regular bread. If you can cut out add on such as butter, mayonnaise, change to lite peanut butter, low fat cheese slice and read labels, lots of no name product have less calories and sodium than bran name. It's a learning process but if you do it right you will reap the rewards.
10,000 steps when you first start the clinic is a goal it's not a requirement. If you track your steps each and everyday you should be aiming to do more tomorrow than you did today. It's not gonna happen overnight and the clinic knows that. Many of their patients lead sedentary lives because of their weight issues and can barely get 1000 steps a day. It's a work in progress.
I think you're just being hard on yourself. Stop, breathe and pat yourself on the back for taking the necessary step in life to get into the clinic. It'll get easier and soon you'll be looking back and going wow I did it.
Chin Up.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't. Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened. My Surgery was September 21/2010
Thanks. I try my best to be supportive because I know how hard this journey can be. When I joined the forum 3 years ago I had just started the clinic and I had great support so now it's my turn to Pay it Forward.

I might well have been approved a second time through, but decided (with my husband's and doctor's support) to go the self pay route and get on with my life. I think my choice was a good one (for me) but have to tell you that what I learned through the modules and WW staff (especially my dietition) made a huge difference in my journey.

I only reached 10,000 steps a day twice during my year at the clinic pre-op.....they dont care as long as your tracking it.
As mentioned above, look at your food choices for 1700 calories and see if you can shrink in some areas.
veggies are great snacks.
How i seperated my day was 3 500cal meals and 2 100cal snacks.
100cals in veggies is a LOT.
Also, if you can adjust your day to accomodate, have a glass of milk before bed. It'll help the bedtime hunger. Also, is it actual hunger? or head hunger your feeling?
I felt the same way. I still get cravings but don't feel hungry very often. Before my surgery I always felt hungry around 4pm so I found foods like a banana or raw veggies that always made me feel full. Finding out your trigger times and how to manage them is helpful. Everyone is different so it helps to find what works for you. Good Luck.
