Dr Toy not taking referrals.....

Hi,

I am just over 1.5 years out of surgery, and want to start looking into some procedures.  I've read many wonderful things about Dr Toy in Edmonton, but when I called his office I was advised they aren't currently taking any new referrals, and don't anticipate being able to see anyone new for a year.

Although I would have really liked to deal with Dr Toy, I don't want to wait a year just for a consult.  Are there any other Albertan plastic surgeons that anyone has dealt with and been pleased with their results?

Thanks!

Are you a patient of the Weight Wise Clinic? I ask this because they are the ones who will give you a referral to Dr. Toy. I was referred by the clinic at around the 18 month mark although they said they wanted me at a stable weight for 6 months before I was referred which didn't happen cause I kept losing weight, they went ahead and referred me anyway. At that time I had heard that Dr. Toy wouldn't be taking any referrals and I though the same things as you but didn't have to worry about it once I talked to my nurse at the clinic.

Now if you have had surgery else where it may be different. Good Luck and I hope you find someone worth being referred to that has dealing with weight loss patients. Dr. Toy isn't just a plastic surgeon he's a weight loss reconstructive surgeon which is pretty hard to top.

Kee.

I have heard good things about the Plastic Surgeon in Camrose from the Nurses in Emergency that I am friends.... they say they hardly ever see her patients for complications or infections.  I can't speak for her quality of work, but Camrose is not a big city, so if she wasn't good she would have no patients going to her I would think.  Here is her info

but if you have surgery in the Weight Wise Program talk to them about Dr. Toy

Thanks for the replies.  Unfortunately I did not go through the Edmonton clinic, I actually had my surgery in Ontario before moving out here.

That's very unfortunate that he only deals with people through that one clinic at the moment.  Oh well, it was worth a try :)
