Weight expectations
Luckily, no one ever asked me that question. No one ever told me what their goal for me was, not even my surgeon. I was considered a "lightweight" at 290, and certainly a lightweight at 244 the day of surgery. That would make my loss since surgery around 110 lbs. I knew that the more weight I lost before surgery, the better my ultimate results could be.
In the three people I know personally (not just from support group), all of us lost 100% of our excess weight. I'm not sure what happens that makes people stall out at higher weights. But losing it all is certainly possible. I think the key is probably utilizing the momentum of your initial weight loss by working out and making good nutrition choices so that when your loss eventually slows, you'll have a good framework in place to keep losing.
