I am having such a struggle,I quit smoking for the ryn and started again after about 1 year, now i am booked for surgery with     Dr. Toy in a couple of weeks. I can't get off that last couple of cigarettes a day. i keep asking myself what I want, all this loose skin or a cigarette.......you think it would be easy. Has anybody else gone through this? are they going to blood test me, do i go in for pre admission for the panni?  Will they cancel me......help, any words of wisdom

i used to be a  heavy smoker  i smoked  2 packs a day  at home  i quit smoking  march15  so will be a year this march and   im one of the luck ones i have no desire to ever smoke again    my health is more important  smoking is a very bad addiction which im sure you already know  but  i believe it controls  your mind more then the habbit ,   if you let smoking control you then your going to have a very hard time   quiting   my advise  would be toss them away   each time you feel the urge replace it with a candy or something and remind yourself   that smoking isnt going to control you that your in control now of your life ,  hopefully that will help ........  congrats on your upcomming panni    you come this far i know you can toss away them  smokes and  go even farther

You will have to do a pre-op appt just like any other surgery. I don't think they will cancel your surgery but I know that they totally encourage quitting smoking at least 2-4 weeks before surgery to make your lungs clearer and your recovery better. If you feel uneasy about it I would call Dr. Toy's office for confirmation.

Just think that you are having plastic to look and feel better, smoking ages your skin and decreases your health and after going through rny you did that major change to be health and more fit. Throw them away and stay quit this time. It took me 3 times trying but I've been successful for 10 years now. Never will spend my hard earned money on cigarettes again.

Good Luck.

Kee.
