Yeah!
I am not a regular writer over here....but I follow you :)
I saw Dr Davey a few days ago....and I have the go for the surgery!!! He told me that it will be before christmas.... I'm so happy....and in the same time so afraid....I've been fat all my life....I don't know how to be thin....how to stay thin.....I'm so afraid to come back at where I am right now....
But I have to focus on the positive sides....next summer I will be able to go on a bike ride with my sons....for the first time!!!!! I will be able to run after them at the park.....and most of all...I will be alive to see them growing up :)
I like to say, since I saw Dr Davey, that I'm starting my last year of a fat lady. Or should I say the first year of my new life.....

VSG on 06/26/12
I looked back and see you have diabetes as well as high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'm fortunate in that I don't have diabetes.
I had extremely high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sciatica, chronic bursitis and arthritis. I've been off my blood pressure meds since 3 weeks after my surgery - my blood pressure now sits at a happy 110/70. I'm also off my cholesterol meds, and we'll see how that looks after 6 months. (high cholesterol is partly genetic) The sciatica, arthritis and bursitis are still around, but with the pain reduced to the point that I take pain meds only occasionally instead of twice daily.
My food issues were constant hunger and no "full" setting, both of which the VSG works very well for. My diet was very healthy, the main changes are in serving size and perceived hunger. (the constant "eat ALL the food!" hunger is GONE) The other decision factor for me was my need for NSAIDs for pain. The Sleeve is the only WLS that allows them post op.
