I'm having VSG and total cost 8,760.00  except airfare.  Includes first night in hotel and 3 night in hospital and shuttle to and from San Diego airport.  They also provide room in your privarpte room for a companion.

First I want to say that lots of people out there understand your frustration. However you are right on track to the stats the clinic give out. It isn't unusual for a patient to wait up to a year to complete their appointment and surgical wait time. Also once referred to to the surgeon by Dr. Modi doesn't guarantee that you will be going ahead with surgery. Through out my experience with the clinic and the 3 years I was a patient there I have witnessed and seen lots of patients make the initial referral only to be told by the surgeons that they didn't think surgery was the right option for them and that there were people out there that needed the surgery to save there lives due to extremely amount of co-mobilities.
With that being said I would recommend that you keep doing what you are doing and not stress out over the wait times. You are moving in the right direction and that's what matters most. Don't let this affect your motivating cause one you are approved and on the wait list for surgery you will need that motivation more than ever to keep you losing weight or maintaining or then it's a whole new ball game of stress. They can and will cancel surgery if you don't continue to follow there program and guild line.
Venting is good and like I said we have all been frustrated at some point and that's why we are here, to support, encourage and lend an ear.
Good Luck.

Kee.

I can understand the frustration,
When I started at the clinic (Refferal Oct 2011) It seemed like it was so long, I flew through my classes and first rounds of appointments.  I was approved for Surgery in April of this year and only today do I have the date.

I can be frustrating, but I look at it this way, they are trying to help so many people and on some limited resources, the wait times have come down from 3 years to around 1 year and from what I read they are trying to make them even better.

When we think about how long it has taken ust to get to the point of need the surgery, on year is not that long and I have been very happy with the time to adjust my lifestyle to match what will be needed after surger.

Keep your head up, it will be time before you know it.

You are so right! I waited 2 years in Nova Scotia to get to see someone then I finally moved to Edmonton to see if I could get some help and I was called for my first assessment in November 2011. It wasn't until August that I had a surgery date and just had the surgery 3 weeks ago. The time waiting was frustrating but I used it to adapt my lifestyle and work out some emotional issues that would have sabotaged me if I didn't do the work. The psych counseling and the WW classes were a great help to me and though at times I wondered if I would ever get the surgery, I'm grateful for the time and it does go by.kiss
