US customs question

 Surgery is Oct 10 in Mexicali
Flying from Edmonton to San Diego via vancouver

Do I tell US customs I'm actually going to Mexico, or just say San Diego and give a hotel name?
Just wondering which would be "easier"

 I went Calgary to la to San and then drove into mex to stay there. 
I just told customs what I was doing, surprise they have seen our kind before lol it answered their question and off I went! 

Also, I got lucky on flight home a crew member asked what I had done, I told her and she smiled and said I thought so! Had hers done 2 yrs prior! Lol

 Thanks!  Yeah I'm sure it won't be a problem.  Don't know why but I hate going through customs and being cross examined.  Sometimes it is so smooth and easy and sometimes not so much lol.

 Who is doing your surgey? I went I Aceves and they gav an address in San Diego so I just used that.

 Dr Aceves is my surgeon as well.  I didn't receive a San Diego address from them however.
