Will I ever be thin??

I've dreamed of being thin my whole teenage/adult life ...... I even have a plan of the clothes I want to wear lol.... and things I want to do
Struggling with following the WW diet plan...... feel like even if I ever get to see the surgeon I won't get surgery
Scared to death that I will get surgery and not lose weight..... or worse gain it all back

Just when I start to tell people that I am looking seriously at surgery,  my body decides different..... ended up in ER 2 days ago with abdominal pain.... thought it was a hernia from my c-section scar..... but ultra sound was normal...... the ER surgeon is not sure what is wrong..... now waiting on a CT scan appointment.... hopefully will get one this week... still have pain all day long.... feels like I had a c section all over again

I see Dr Modi at WW on Oct 2.... scared that if I don't know what is wrong, or if I need surgery for what ever it may be or that it won't be able to wait until I could do its surgery and bariatric surgery together .......that then my bariatric surgery will be delayed or not possible at all
I really want to get this weighloss surgery soon, as I would like to have another baby..... my baby is almost 4yrs old....... but I need to lose alot of weight first...... my pregnancy with him did not go well, lots of complications, and a premie baby..... not good, but all worked out fine in the end, but don't want to put another baby at risk..... or myself as my son needs me.

Just feeling hopeless lately...... having a hard time getting out of this funk

Just Breath and Relax. Stressing yourself out is the worst thing you can do cause it'll cause you to over eat and stall weight loss.
Journal everything you eat and your emotions as well can sometimes help with figuring out why you eat, if your not hungry it may be boredom, you may be thirsty and not hungry. It's all a learning process. Following there directions for weight loss is key. Once you are approved for surgery and on the waiting list you absolutely must not gain weight. If you have gained weight on your final weigh in before surgery they will cancel it and have done so in the pass. You have to show them that you are serious about making these life changes.

Things may have changed but I am almost positive that if you need surgery for another reason they will not do it at the same time as your weight loss surgery. Dr. Birch wouldn't even take my gall bladder out at the same time because of the trauma caused to your body and the length of time you have to be under. Your pain may be something simple as a ruptured ovarian cyst, painful and after rupturing it can still hurt for days. Lets hope it gets better soon.

Relax, breathe.....
while I can understand the stress you are under with the new injury, you need to relax and not let it get in the way of your weightloss goals.
If your first appointment at the clinic is on Oct 2nd, even if you did have another surgery you would have plenty of time to heal.

As tough as the portion control and lifestyle changes are with the WW Clinic, they are the base you need to succeed, If you can learn and change your habbits now it will eliminate your fears of not getting the Surgery and Regaining the weight after.

Getting stressed out will not help at this time, just try to relax and wait for the information and tests to be done.

Speed trap makes a lot of sense.

Just chill out and write a list of what you have to do and start checking stuff off the list.

Everyone who had weight loss surgery was fat first, so being fat will not disqualify you.

Finally, you may want to consider having your baby first, then do the weight loss surgery after. They say wait 2 years post surgery to have a baby.

Time to figure out your priorities !

Hi, I'm new here, but hugs ...we are all in the same boat and all have issues.  I haven't really looked into the surgery because I couldn't afford it, but we are here if you need to vent!

Take care of yourself and just try to have patience and wait for the results.

Sunshine61........ your profile says you live in calgary..... its completely free in Alberta you have to get a referral from your family doctor and then just through all the hoops of the program and it takes awhile until you actually get surgery (usually about 9-18mos)
The people who are paying either are from the states and don't have health insurance coverage or they are from Canada and didn't want to do the long wait so when to places like Mexico

Hope that helps

I do live in Calgary, but my doctor and I have talked about it and he doesn't know anything about this.  How do I get more details??

Where are you from and how do you know this?  It sounds amazing!

Thank you!

 Hello

I am from Edmonton area...... I hae been going to the Edmonton Weight Wise program since Apr/12..... I'm to see the surgeon in Nov/Dec and have surgery maybe before summer (i hope)

So there are a few options in Alberta but they are all different even though they are all though alberta health (they can't make it easy for us lol)..... just google and you will find lots.... the wait times at all the clinics are not great but are much better than they were even a year ago

1) Edmonton Weight wise Clinic and Calgary Weight Clinic and Red Deer Bariatric Specialty Clinic
go to www.albertahealthservices.ca...... click on "find health care" ..... then click "find programs and services"...... then select city or area (Red Deer is Central)..... then go through ther list and look for Weight Management programs, or weight wise programs or Bariatric .... ect

each one has different referal process and criteria
I don't know anything about Clagary or Red Deer..... but for Edmonton you had to do minimum 4 education classes before you were allowed to be referred to clinic..... I don't think Calgary and Red Deer are like that....... best way might be to look on the website..... phone the toll free alberta health number..... and ask on this site there are people who have went through the other programs...... trust me and do your homework, ask lots of questions and make sure your doctor fills out the forms infront of you cause if anything is not done right you wont get accepted to the clinic and most times the clinic won't tell you there was a problem.

2) Medicine Hat Bariatric Clinic by Dr Nohr
I can't find much info on him so maybe ask around on this site... but I have heard good things

3) Did you know that the Panniculectomy (aka Panni) plastic surgery..... which is the removal of loose skin after surgery is also free in Alberta ...... yay
Its different than a tummy tuck...... its just loose skin removal..... where a tummy tuck tightens the muscles also....... but many surgeons will let you add certain procedures to the plastic surgery and get a 2 for 1 kinda deal

Hope this helps
Also best way to get answers on here that you cant find is to make your own new post
