 Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if any one has gotten a call from Dr.Karmali's office in the past couple months with a surgery date? If so when was your decision date and when is your surgery date.  I was really hoping to have had a date by now....time is killing me.  Having a very hard time staying on track.  Have anyone else went thru the "eat it now cause I won't be able to after surgery" stage?  I need to get back on track.  Is there anyone else in the Edmonton program from fort Mac? Would love to have someone close by to chat with.

Have you called the doctors office to see where you are on the list?
I called every few months and the staff at my surgions office was happy to let me know.

A friend of mine is being sleeved by Dr Karmali on September 28th. She was approved in May. Does that help at all?

I have called the doctors office a couple times the first time they told me they are booking into the end of september and I am 4th on the list.  The last time I called they said how they are booking has changed to your surgery will be 6 months from your decision date.  Mine was in May so I guess I wont be getting a call for awhile yet :(

Don't do the eat it now cause I won't be able to later.
It is very important that you maintain the changes that the clinic has shown you. I know I was told by everyone at the clinic that if I went into my pre-op nurses appointment with a gain that my surgery would be canceled. Mine you this appointment was on Friday and my surgery was already booked for Tuesday of the following week. In the end I only had 5 days notice before my surgery and I was so glad that I stuck to my program and did what needed to be done.

Thanks for the reply I am really trying to stay on track 5 days would be a breeze but 5-6 months is really hard.  I know I have to get back on track. Thankfully I have not gained much weight but I'm not losing either :( when I was visiting the clinic I was losing about 1.5 pounds a week and they were very pleased with that. I don't have anymore appointments until I go for surgery besides the pre surgery appointment when I get a date. Just wondering if it's going to be a problem that I have not been losing weight since my last appointment?

I'm not sure how they feel about maintaining but I do know that when I went for my final weight in the Friday before surgery I was only down a couple of pounds and they were fine with that. The reason I say it's important to stay on track is because you never know when that call will come. I checked in with Lorraine in the o.r. booking at the beginning of September to add an alternative number to my file cause there was a possibility that I would have to leave the province for a short time and just casually mentioned to her that I could be available for cancellations due to not having to do a liquid diet and then 2 weeks later she called and my appointment was 5 days away for surgery. Had I not stayed on track I would have blown it and I had already waited from April to September so I know how hard it can be.
Keep journaling and watch your portions. Eat protein first and then veggies and carbs. Lots of fluid to combat that hunger feeling and exercise as much as possible not only for your health but for stress relief. Pull out old journals and eat what you did back then it'll help you get back to basic.
Good Luck.
