Just for the general information for all of you who are yet to recieve a surgery date:  I got mine today and after being approved for surgery at the end of April, my date is October 16th!

I know it's not super helpful information, but I was number 10 on the waitlist - and if you can compare that to your standing, you may be able to approximate a ballpark date for yourself. :)

First - congratulations! The time is going to go faster than you think - you'll be on the loser's bench before you know it!

Who is your surgeon? Which surgery are you having done?

Thankyou!  I believe the time will fly - I'm extremely nervous (haven't ever had surgery before and the thought of it makes me feel like I'll throw up.. lol..) but I'm super excited to know that great things are ahead and I try to think of that over all else! :)

My surgeon is Dr. Birch and I'll be doing bypass (after a lot of debate - I was set on having VSG after a couple of friends of mine had it, but I spoke with a few people who helped me decide that bypass was a slightly.. and I mean slightly.. better option for me.)

Congrats on your success as well!  I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys more and more as the date approaches.   I love that we can be sounding boards and advisors to each other here!

Congrats thats very exciting. I just submitted my referal from my doctor for the second time because first time guess my dr. screwed up. Im looking forward to getting into the clinic to see whats all involved in the process and hopeful I will be a canidate for the surgery as obestiy runs in my family. I really want to be a role model for my daughters and be able to live life to its fullest without the worry of extreme health concerns.

For me, the clinic was -exactly- what I needed.

I was not one of those people who could walk into the clinic and seemingly walk back out with a surgery date.  I started at the clinic just over a year ago - and definitely ran the course and jumped their hoops.  I saw a large variety of professionals:  general nurse (a few appointments****upational therapist (a few appointments), pulmonologist (who determined I have sleep apnea), nutritionist (regular appointments), psychologist (who had me attend emotional eating support/info groups for 13 weeks), psychiatrist (who prescribed me low dosage anti-anxiety meds for compulsivity), and a few others that I'm failing to recall at the moment.

As you can see, if you are in need, they really REALLY hit you from all angles and it was definitely a wake up call and turning point for me.  I can definitively say that without all of the types of therapies they offered me at the clinic, I would not be ready to take a step like surgery.  They truly made it clear that my life needs to change, but not only that, they equipped me with the tools to actually MAKE the changes.  Surgery is but another tool in this process.

Good luck to you - I hope the clinic does everything for you that it is doing for me - I am so glad and feel so lucky that I've been able to work with these people! :)

It will!  Iwaited forever for the surgery booking, but now that I know that the big day is only 5-ish weeks away - it feels like nothing. :)  I hope you hear from them soon!
