One way to sneak a bit of extra protein is to mix unflavoured whey powder into your soup. I'll warn you, though - unflavoured doesn't mean it has no taste, so don't use a whole scoop. 1/4 scoop added to a mug of broth goes down pretty well though.

Something you may not have tried but is super popular, and your being able to manage soup made me think of it - chili from Wendy's. I don't eat beef, so haven't tried it, but my sis (who was sleeved the same day as me) says it's really delicious, high protein and slides down easily.

I can't open the lid on Ensure, so bought diabetic Boost instead (16 grams of protein instead of 12) if you're a coffee drinker, a great way to get it in is to heat the Boost (or Ensure) and mix in strong hot coffee. I call it my Boost Latte and really enjoy it. Strong Earl Grey tea added to hot vanilla Boost (or Ensure) is also very good.

I like to name things and thought long and hard about my tummy. I especially tried for a girls name, but he was stubborn and insisted on Fred. A friend of mine on here calls hers Myrtle - she swears her tummy said the name aloud one day and the name stuck.

Does the doc have you on something like nexium or pantoloc? Apparently it helps with the acid, which can lead to the nausea.  I Am supposed to take it daily for the first three months postop. Also, once you have been sick go back to clear fluids for a day or two. If your tummy is upset and it may need a rest, just like when you have the flu.

Another Aceves fan! That morning packet of granules sure does make a difference, doesn't it. It also helps on the thankfully rare occasion Fred sends something back - it isn't at all like throwing up used to be.

How was your experience in Mexicali? I thought it was pretty much my best hospital experience ever.

We are all different but at almost 2 years out I can still feel the effects of water. I used to drink water like crazy 3-4 litres a day now I'm lucky if I can get 1 or 2 bottles down, it has been that way since surgery. In the beginning after surgery warm fluids or flavors helped me the most.
I was suppose to start mushies at 3 weeks out but couldn't tolerate it so I stuck to fluids until about 4 1/2 weeks and then started with runny oatmeal and scrambled eggs. The first month after that my diet consist of eggs, tuna, chili with melted cheese. I couldn't do things like bread, rice cracker or pasta. Soups were ok if I only had broth or puree. Things like jello, applesauce and popsicles were fine from about day 7 onward. Most days I would only eat maybe 2 or 3 bites of food per sitting and be stuffed. I used a baby spoon and fork to be sure I was eating slowly and nursing my new little tummy.
I did end up back in emerg with dehydration at about the 3 week mark and it was a scary experience, I had a rapid heartbeat and nausea, cold sweats. I seriously thought that I was having a heart attack. After that my dietitian told me to measure of 15ml (med cup) of fluids and drink 1 every 10 minutes. But like I said I still have trouble with fluids but it's a suggestion for you.
I've lost 117 pounds to date and still barely meet my protein requirement but have started tracking on livestrong.com so it's easier to know my calorie, protein, sodium, fiber intakes.
Good Luck and go easy on yourself , it's all a new learning experience.

Thank you to all of your suggestions... I'm going to work on it and see what is going to work for this tummy. I have weighed myself and i'm at a stand still not loosing anything and not sure why..
I'm frustrated with that... but also realize I need to gather my positive thoughts again... they slipped away somewhere I'm sure of it... but will work hard at finding it..
I love getting the feed back it gives me the courage to get what I need and do it. So with that I love this forum to help me figure out why and how to change my habits. and to learn new tools..
Thank you to all of you for your support, It is helpful to know I can share and get feedback with others who have gone through the same things.

Are you tracking your calories, protein and water? I generally find water the hardest, but they're all important and the only way you really know where you're sitting is to track it all.

I use an App called MyFitnessPal, which you can also do on your computer. It helps a lot.

The taste bud thing is more normal than others may think.  It takes a month for new ones to regenerate and the old ones shuffle off.....
You will get there! My husband had the RNY and he lost 65 pounds or so,,,he had his surgery in February.
Im going thru the same program, though not sure which to have
He loves Wendy's chili, or loves more my homemade cause I load it with veggies, and make it with either elk, ground chicken or turkey, and if I absoluetly must, beef...
He tolerated the poached eggs I might make him
Light old cheddar cheese for flavor
But good ole chicken or turkey BBq is fav.
Not so much of fan of the soups he says.....
Get those flavor taste buds to a different style!  My prob is I love love chocolate and the less u eat, the less u crave
And Sip sip sip!
Have you tried the milo?  We get them from the walmart in the fort

I ended up back in the hospital for 8days. I had an infection (part of the reason with the nausia) other part is because I have a small ulcer. I'm now back at home and hopefully I will be on the mends again.
I made chicken noodle soup and I added more chicken. for more protein. thanks for your input it helps so much.
yes I have tried the milo, its not bad.
