Hi there,

Coffee was the only problem food for me right after the RNY. I hated the taste after surgery... didn't matter if it was cold or hot. Prior to surgery I LOVED coffee in ALL it's forms.

Coffee was about the only thing that cause dumping for me. I know its weird but my stomach absolutely hated coffee.

I stayed away from coffee, but every few months, I would try a little bit.. Finally about a year out of surgery... I can drink coffee again!!!

You'll notice lots of taste changes... so NEVER be afraid to try new things.... Items that you didn't like before may become your new favorites....!!

Experiment... be adventurous!!!

I am 8 months out post VSG and coffee FINALLY tastes like it used to!! HURRAY!!! I have missed my Black BLood in the morning! intially for the 1st three months all I could  drink was tea. Then I graduated to warm milk with a touch of coffee. So there. Hopefully you'll enjoy your coffee earlier than I got to!!

VSG on 08/02/12
Has the VSG been successful for you?  I haven't had my surgery yet and I just recently made my mind up that this is the procedure for me.  I was struggling between VSG and LGCP ( newest procedure where they fold your stomach in and stich it. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The first month post op I had buyers remorse...I found it hard to adjust to the proportion changes and thinking up new ways to prepare protein.  I've heard that from others post VSG as well so know I'm not alone.  Now, it was the best thing I ever did for myself and find the new recipes and exploring new tastes fun and exciting. So does my husband. When I get  too crazy (What is THAT mom?) The kids get a grilled cheese!LOL! Do all the modules. I found the mindful eating most helpful. Slow down eating. Chew well. Think about each mouthful. Concentrate on the tastes and textures. Keep busy in the evenings, out of the kitchen.Crafts, gardening, walking, etc.Change takes time. Be patient with yourself and the system.....the more prepared you are the more successful you are. I started out at size 20, I am now a size 10.......I can give myself pedicures, I ride a bike, I am going to try wakeboarding this summer. I'm almost 50 and finally have the life I want!!! so yes, I guess you can say it's been a successful journey for me! Thanks Edmonton weight wise clinic!!
