Dr.Karmali
Hi Everyone,
I'm a patient of Dr.Karmali's. I've been on the wait list for a bypass since June 1st. I was hoping to hear from someone who has a surgery date to get a feel of about how long of a wait there is right now. I realize it depends on several things such as vacations...etc so I was just hoping for a general idea. I'm so excited for my surgery the wait is killing me.
Thanks for any info

It took me 3 months from meeting surgeon to surgery. I just had the bypass 10 days ago with Dr. Birch. I have heard that things slow down over the summer with vacations etc. hang in there, the waiting is tough!
Hi there
My name is Jessica and am brand new to this site. I am with Dr. Karmali. I met with him to decide surgery on March 31st. I got the call a couple weeks ago and my surgery is on July 10th. I had been speaking with Lorain @the Royal Alex and she had told me june, then a week later she informed me (after pestering her) that surgery scheduling was being passed back to Dr.Karmalis office. When I contacted Nicole at the office at the begining of June that she had spots and that there were 11 people ahead of me on the list and that she would start from the top. She said due to it being summer some people might not be able to take the date. She told me to check back in 2 weeks. When I did she told me there was 4 people ahead of me and that I would get a call the following week. She called later that day with my date! I could not handle not knowing, it agonizing! My advise would be to phone the office and find out where you are on the list. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your reply. I called today and Nichole from his office is such a nice lady. She told me there are 4 people ahead of me and as of right now he's booking into mid September. Glad to have an idea but the wait is terrible. I'm doing awesome with food, pedometer, and all the different goals the clinic has set for me and then I have a off day then that off day turns into 3 or 4 it's so hard to stay on track. I sometimes have this little thing in the back of my head saying eat this now cause you won't be aloud to have it anymore after surgery. Do anyone have any helpful tips to help me stay on track. I try to keep thinking positive and think about why I'm doing this in the first place but I still get carried away sometimes :(

I agree with Jen wholeheartedly! Dr. Karmali is awesome. He's been my primary surgeon for both my VSG and RNY revision, plus he removed my gall bladder about a year ago. He has excellent bedside manner, is caring, takes the time to listen to your concerns, and is an extremely capable surgeon. I have no qualms about recommending him.
Cheers!
