Thank You very much for your kind words I appreciate it. It has been a battle but everyday is a new day for me things are getting a lillte bit better so I look to the future and don't look back anymore cause my health is what needed to change so I made the choice to either live a painful life or pain free life guess what I chose....lol...I wish you the best in your appointment and once you get surgery and start healing life just gets better from there. I still have my challanges but I just keep telling that voice in my head that this is for me so I do it each and everyday. So please keep in touch about your surgery and appointments would love to share stories...
I just recently got a handle on my bowel issues. I was always a bit constipated from about 2-3 months out of surgery. But I could always handle it. Then about 2 months ago, it started getting worse. Maybe because of the different types of solid food I eat or maybe because I started a new protein drink. I don't know. I wasn't going regularily enough and when I did, it was painful. Ugh...details, I know, but it wasn't pretty. So now I take two Colace stool softners in the morning and a dose of Mirilax in the evenings. I got the Mirilax in the U.S. but its almost identical to Restoralax which you can get in Canada. I think both are safe to take for extended periods but you may want to check with Dr. Nohr. I haven't checked with him yet but from what I read on the US forum for our surgery, many take both these daily to help soften and to keep regular. After three days, everything kicked in for me and I am now a very happy camper. From what I hear, you want to stay away from the stimulant laxatives. I have no experience at all with irritable bowel syndrome. Hope this info helps you.
