First off, congratulations and happy birthday!
What does your surgeon's team want you to do? Do you have to do a prep diet?
I spent today with a friend who is waiting for her surgical date and we did some brainstorming of things she can be doing now. Perhaps a few might be helpful to you:
Shop for small (1/2 cup or less) food containers and the foods your team says you'll be eating for the first few weeks after surgery. Choose a part of the fridge and bit of counter for "your" stuff and post signs if needed.
Vacuum really well - you won't be doing it again for several weeks. (darn)
Pack a small bag for the hospital - include a magazine or 2 and nice Chapstick. Consider taking your pillow from home (in an obviously yours pillowcase) and an eye mask.
Don't forget slippers that you don't need to bend to put on. Assuming all goes well you'll be doing a lot of shuffling up and down the hospital hallway.
I hope everything goes wonderfully for you.

Congratulations! I know how you are feeling. The same type of thing happened to me. I was called because of a cancellation and I had 1 month to prepare. It went by so quickly and before I knew it, the surgery was the next day.
Some thoughts to help you out. Have your house clean and the laundry caught up beforehand. You won't feel like doing much for the next couple of weeks after surgery and you will be doing nothing but thinking about what you need to be putting in your mouth. I found this a full time job between vitamins, liquids and protein. Figuring out a routine was exhausting. Plus you won't be lifting anything and you may even be hunched over for a few days. It is abdominal surgery.
I stocked up on plain greek yogurt, cream soups, skim milk, sf puddings, Crystal Light, and sf popcicles. I also had a can of Beneprotein on hand to add to my food.
You won't get to drink anything until after your leak test which I think is on day three (after surgery). So you are going to have severe dry mouth. I was allowed ice chips which I sucked and then I spit out the water each time. Bring chapstick, slippers, a book (magazine), comfortable pants to go home in. Maybe even your own pillow.
Walk as much as you can after the surgery while still in hospital. I did laps and laps around the floor. You will get to hate the things they put on your legs that fill up with air. But they are a good thing to prevent clots. But they are hot and annoying during the night.
I received 3 heparin shots a day in the belly. By the time I left my belly was covered in little bruises from the shots. I also got gravol shots when I needed them for nausea. The morphine for pain was by IV.
I barely seen Dr. Nohr in the hospital. When I did, they were super quick visits. I had student nurses helping out as well.
When you are home, just really work on getting your liquids in. I wasn't anywhere near 70 g of protein but I tried my best. You will eat such small amounts. So make sure it's protein rich. Here's where the beneprotein came in handy. I added it to everything I could even though I didn't really like it.
After about 5 weeks you will get a gastroscopy back at the hospital. It's a peice of cake so don't worry about it. I felt nothing at all and Dr. Nohr even dialated my stoma a bit.
You will be happy to have this surgery. It's changed my life. This morning I hit 100 lbs lost and it's been 7 months. I can eat alot more now. So take advantage of the first few months. You will lose the most the quickest and easiest
Best of luck!!
