Grazing is for horses

So has anyone else out there caught themselves grazing their way back up the scale?  I have had some troubles with hormones, thyroid and hypo reactive glycemia, but that just led to a detour away from the plan and into grazing.  I have grazed on carbs but also good stuff like protein etc, just seems I have food in my mouth all the time.  So back to three Meals a day! I know I will still have the other issues which I can't fully control but I should be able to control the hand to mouth habit.  Has anyone been there?  Any tips?

I haven't had surgery (yet?) but totally get the grazing thing. The 2 things that help me are measuring out my portions and putting the rest away before I take the first bite and doing my nails.

I have the stuff for doing my own gel polish manicures and change colours a couple of times a week - generally when I'm feeling stressed, which is when I have my greatest urge to munch mindlessly.

Is there something you could do to pamper yourself instead of munching?

I have been told by my Nutritionist that 3 meals a day still isn't enough to meet our requirements. We should kinda be grazing but in a sense of snacking on a regular basis. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, supper then a evening snack. We should be putting food into our bodies every 3-4 hours to keep it fueled. Of course healthy snack are required but if you get into this habit it'll b easier to stay on track and start losing again.

I know for a fact I wouldn't do well with 3 meals a day.  I'm better with the 3 meals plus 3 snacks.  I get pretty cranky if I go too long without food.

I have found myself eating more crap for snacks, lately, just out of convenience.  I really need to stay away from the simple carbs and back to snacking on protein.  I've also had these horrible cravings for popcorn and have given in more often than not.

The thing I've learned about myself and my sleeve is that I'm not able to eat much at once, but I'm certainly able to eat a little bit all day long.  It's something I really have to watch (especially when I'm bored at work).  I also noticed that if I'm feeling snacky I can go get a glass of water, put some sugar-free iced tea mix and drink that.  I feel more satisfied and it also helps me get my fluids in.  I also use gum a lot to make me feel like I'm eating something.

I noticed that if I wear my abdominal binder (from my plastics) that I feel full a lot quicker and I'm not able to eat as much so I've gone back to wearing that.  On the plus side, I'm not as swollen at the end of the day when I wear it and I sit up a lot straighter.  Looks like I'm hooked on it again.

Yep, grazing is an easy trap to get stuck in.  Somedays I feel I am a bottomless pit.  The difference between grazing and snacking.

A snack it a planned food item eaten at a planned time and fits into your diet.

Grazing is on going eating where you do not pay attention to the nutritional value nor the qualtity that your yet.

I love popcorn.  Go to the laundry mat and buy it all the time. The stuff from there is so much better then the stuff at the movies!  You get a huge bag for a buck and I will graze on it all day!

Sometimes a scale check is needed as a reality check!

Great comments.  I have returned to 3meals and 2 snacks, but I still need to do better choices on the snacks, I still find it easy to want to slip in some junk food, but I am white knuckling right now and not giving in   Thanks all for your posts
