another panni question
I understand the panni is covered here in alberta. some have had with DR Knor. I would like to see any before and after pics if they are out there. Also do you have to jump through hoops? do you have to prove rashes etc? I don't have any medical reasons to have it. Just purely vanity and better fitting underwear :) I soooo wish we could trade it to have the arms done!! my arms don't seem to have noticed i have lost 115 lbs! :(
i'm in the same situation as you. it doesn't hang too bad but i'm hoping bad enough. i know i will need the full tuck not just the tummy. your arms didn't lose as much as your wanted, well on me it is my upper stomach. i am all loose skin that hangs over my jeans, could never tuck a shirt in and still fat on my upper. i;m looking forward to my consult. sure hoping someone does post some of their before and after pics also though
I had my panni with Dr Nohr on March 27. All went well. It was covered by Alberta Health and i didnt have to document or prove any skin issues. Just had to be at stable weight and 100lbs lost. From what i understand, most surgeons that perform panni only address below the belly button. Dr Nohr does above as well. My incisions are hip to hip and from pubic line to sternum. I am very happy with the results. I went into it with the attitude that anything would be an improvement. I dont look anything close to bikini worthy but it feels so much better and my clothes fit so much better. If you semd me an email address i would be happy to send photos. I have before, today and day after surgery (that one is a little graphic)
I would be interested to see pictures as well. I am at 92 lbs lost and at my appointment a few weeks ago with Dr. Nohr he said that I would be able to have the panni surgery once I lost 100lbs and was able to keep it off for a bit. These two requirements seem to be all he asks. Usually if there is hanging skin, I would think rash issues may crop up. What he did mention was that less than half his RNY patients get the panni surgery done. I guess either they live with the hangy skin or their 100 lbs weight loss is unstable.
I will admit, I am a bit nervous to get the panni done. It's quite the anchor cut so I worry about recovery and complications (blood clots etc.). Dr. Nohr said 6 weeks off work. I could care less about the scars, I just want to heal well and not have issues. I wonder how many staples there are? Thinking about getting them removed terrifies me.

My understanding is that AHC only covers the panni surgery and no others. Wouldn't mind getting my arms done at some point cuz I feel like a Flying Squirrel!!! I have had staples taken out post op other surgeries as well as have taken out MANY on other people(Retired R.N). The stape remover gadget makes it quite simple and painfree. Most people do the "OH! Are they out already??" comment. The only time I've had any trouble removing them with discomfort is when there is an infection or when they are left in too long and dig in a little.....Take some Tylenol 1/2 hour prior to removal if you are worried and that can help!!!
