I had my VSG on March 21/12 and am learning to deal with the sternum pain when drinking.
My question is on a clear liquid diet, why is there so much gas? I had no sugar fruit popcicles yesterday and  am wondering if it was the natural sugar that did me in?

It's quite common to have a lot of gas after surgery as well as diarrhea, liquids in liquids out. It will get better with time. Just keep moving lots when you can. Also the sternum pain will get better with time. Just remember to sip slowly and try hot liquids or room temperature, cold water near killed me.
Good Luck and congrats on your surgery.

Kee.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Also, you are filled with air when they do the surgery.  Takes time to make it's way back out!
