Well I had sleeve surgery with Dr. Birch on Tuesday and am home today.  The first two days were rough ... To be expected with a general anesthetic, some pain, and gas pain.  I'm sipping fluids mostly this evening and wonder how I'll ever get all that protein in! Each day will teach me something I suppose..... You gain a few pounds in hospital likely due to all the fluids they pump in.  Anyhow, I'll keep you posted .

 Shandanni,

I have the same thing. I was sleeved on Tuesday and everytime I swallow I feel a sharp pain around my breastbone. I think I have to sip more slowly.
Best of luck to you!

... Sometimes the breathing tube leaves you with a sore throat .... or from the stomach surgery itself.  I hope your pain meds are helping and if it doesn't, definitely talk to your doctor.  I know the feeling about being scared to swallow.  Now we have much smaller stomachs and it's definitely taking me some getting used to.  A few sips and I feel quite full.  Hoping things improve for you soon!

Wow, BJ it's done!
so greatful to hear your story and Keelan's, gives us realistic expectations. EEK I cant see how one is ready to work after 2 weeks sounds like you cant get enough food and water in by then to have the strength.
Even sitting behind a desk and some walking could be too much after 2 weeks. What did Birch say your back to work date was BJ?
I see him monday, looking forward to it

Just my personal opinion or what you would call my 2 cents worth but I would have never been able to go back to work 2 weeks after surgery. Dr Birch gave me the usual 6 weeks off and then I went to my family doctor and had it extended.
I did at the time work in a high level care facility but even if I did work in an office there was no way I would have been able to do it. I was still very weak and tired at 2 weeks out. I wasn't even driving yet because my brain was still so foggy.I remeber waking one morning just after the 7 week mark and thinking wow I feel great, more like my old self.  I'd say take as long as you can cause it's a hugh learning phase and so many changes for your body and mind. But again everyone is different.

Kee.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Congrats on your surgeries ladies. Unfortunately it will hurt to sip for a while but don't let it discourage you from drinking fluids. Getting your protein in this early out from surgery is nearly impossible but really at this stage it's more important to stay hydrated. I got dehydrated at a week out and landed myself back in Emergency. It wasn't a fun experience.

I also got fearful for my new sleeve and found it very hard to start on full fluids on week 3 like I was told. I stayed on liquids for an extra 1.5 weeks and then worked up my courage to try oatmeal. I really was nervous but I used a baby spoon and it helped slow me down and it amazed me that 3 bites and I was super full.

I love my sleeve and what it has given me.

... Seems like things get easier hour by hour!  Had a great nap today ... Still have pain to the largest scope site but don't need the pain meds until night.  The codeine syrup makes me dizzy so I take it before bed.  I am sipping Unjury's chicken protein broth which is quite good.  I will have had a bit of yogurt and some pudding today with crystal light, and protein coffee (1 cup).  Seems like I'm hydrated.  I'm looking forward to weight loss and improved health.  Let's just  "... Keep on sipping' "!
