BOOKS
Hello.
I talked about this on the Red Deer facebook group but I thought I would mention it here as well.
I asked for book recommendations about weight loss surgery and many people recommended Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.
I found this book informative but there is a lot one can skip living in Canada because it talks about picking a surgeon, a hospital and whether your US insurance company will cover it. It doesn't talk about the sleeve as much...mostly lapband and Roux en Y however there is a new version coming out in July so maybe it will add more in there. I did like how it discussed meal plans and how to deal with people who are discouraging about the surgery.
I also ordered another book which I am half way through and really enjoying. It is called Before and After: Living Well After Weight Loss Surgery by Susan Maria Leach. I find it her book informative and relatable. She journals her weight loss surgery experience from before surgery up until having cosmetic surgery. I relate to a lot that she talks about when she discusses not really living. Her non-scale victories are some that I want to experience such as sitting comfortable on a plane or having the confidence to go to a spa wearing the "small" robe that is given. Her book also answers questions based on her experience. This woman loves gourmet food and she shows how you can eat well after surgery even at buffets or five course dinners.
I just thought I would mention these books in case others are looking to read about the surgery and other experiences.
