I have a date!
Congrats and I totally believe you made the right choice to take the date.
Advice on getting ready for surgery not so much- but I would start eating tiny wee bites and stretching out your bites so you learn to eat very, very slowly following surgery. I wish I had gotten myself into "training" to learn to do this because it was my biggest struggle following surgery and even now it happens wher I eat too much, too quickly and end up running for the bathroom.
Best of luck and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all.

Congrats and I think you will truly be glad with the decision you have made.
Don't worry about packing too many things to take to the hospital with you. They prefer you to wear their hospital gowns and you will be sleeping, sipping and walking a lot so you won't have much time to read or listen to music. A small trot down the hallway will exhaust you for the first while.
Do your shopping before hand. Make sure you have some jello, sugar free popsicles and soup broths. Maybe thin yogurt and pudding cups if you like milk products on hand cause you won't want to be out grocery shopping. Hot fluids for me went down easier than cold so I tended to lean towards soup broth for my liquids over water. Plain water still at 16 months out can hurt my sleeve at time so I tend to flavor it with crystal light .
The biggest thing is don't stress, it will effect your weight and trust in your surgeon that everything will go smoothly. I went into the o.r. super calm which is unlike me and smiled as they were putting me under for I knew when I work up my life would change for the better and it has. I wish you all the luck in the world.
Kee.

Hi Mykmini,
Congratulations! I am so happy for you. I think it was a smart decision to take the surgery. This way you won't have any regrets and you won't have to wait any longer. I wish you the best of luck.
Though I haven't had the surgery yet, a friend on here told me months ago about a few things to bring/not bring for surgery.
She suggested leaving your ipod, mp3 player at home as it might get stolen. Loose fitting clothing for when going home, housecoat and pads (sometimes women get their period after surgery. She said to not pack too much because you won't need it.
Maybe those who have had surgery could validate this or not?
Good luck
Mel

You will be glad you took the date. It will be good to have the surgery over with and you can concentrate on the new life ahead of you.
Funny how we are all different. I am thankful I had my ebook with me because I did alot of reading. I didn't sleep alot during the day because I wanted to make sure I slept through the night and those hospital beds are brutal! I am a side sleeper so being forced to sleep on my back was difficult. Between my ebook, a tv ,and walking, I didn't do much else during the day. By the 4th day, I was going completely stir crazy, and wanted to get home. We are all different. Mind you, I had my surgery done lap, so maybe thats why my recoverey was so smooth. Definately bring some loose clothes for the trip home, some slippers (because you will be walking), some headphones if you will have a tv. Definately some chap stick! Some people have said to have a pillow with you for the drive home to press into your belly area when you cough or sneeze.
Have some plain greek yogurt, sf jam (to sweeten it with), fat free milk, cream soups, sf jello/pudding, sf popcicles and protein powder (whey isolate) on hand at home. For the first while, you will be doing nothing except trying to figure out a routine for what/when you put in your mouth, be it food, water, or vitamins.
Take care!! Don't stress out. You will do great!
