Where did you go for your sleep apnea test?

Hi All,

I was supposed to have the sleep apnea test done but haven't yet since I realized it's not covered by Alberta Health.  The place the hospital referred me to would cost $100 I think and I was wondering if any of you knew a cheaper place.

I hear some Dentists have the equipment for this test also.

$100.00 is not that big of a deal but I would like to shop around so that I get more out my health spending account.  I would appreciate anyinfo you may have.

Thanks!

Do you have benefits from work? They might cover it.

Smiles by Saby in Red Deer does the test but he might expensive.  403-340-3434

Good luck. I hope you find somewhere that offers a better price.

No, but when I went a few years ago I went to the wetaskiwin hospital.  Not sure if they do it anymore. I believe at that time Alberta health must have covered it because I don't remember paying anything.  I have been on a CPAP machine for 7-8 years now nd it changed my life. I getneed sleep I need now and am not like a zombie!

Anyway see you later today in red deer.....it is so cold out hope the roads are good!

Weight Wise referred me to Dr Sabastian down on Jasper ave and I didnt' need to pay. It was free, I didn't pay anything to have it done and I brought the machine home and dropped it back off the next day.

Thanks everyone!  I will phone around and see what I find out. To bad I didn't have it done sooner when it was still covered.

Sleep Medix, yes it cost $100 but I believe I was reimbursed through work, so no big deal.

Dr. Sebastian (not sure of wait times) can do it if you're in the Weight Wise clinic through referral by your nurse.

I had an appointment today at the Center for Sleep and Human Performance here today in Calgary. I don't know why but the take at home test is $200 and the overnight test at the clinic is $800!!!
I paid the $200 today and am filing with my insurance and hope to get it reimbursed.
How is it that they are so expensive and the other people are paying $100?
Did I just get reffered to the wrong place?
