Had my second appt and met the surgeon

Well I am happy to say that the second appt went well.  I was with 3 other terrific ladies that are also going to have the same surgeon. We started out by watching a informative but rather uncreative powerpoint/movie made by Dr. Farries in 2008 I believe. Great information, poor creative direction ( I guess that wouldn't be their focus though).  After that we each waited our turn to be seen by Dr. Menenzes and get weighed etc.

Overall it was great and he said that I would probably be able to book my surgery date by my next appt in February because my weight loss has been good.  That seems crazy since I only started December 10th.  I actually only want my surgery to be in the summer because I have two months off to recouperate and wouldn't have to take anytime off of work.  I am not sure if they can do that for me so I will take whatever I can get, plus I am not sure how long I can do the one cup thing without the surgery.

I posted this to share and let you all know how excited I am to finally have the possibility of attaining a healthy weight that I can maintain.  I am sure that is what we are all really excited about after the millions of diets we have all tried.

I also want to add that 8 pounds of the weight lost on my ticker are from before I started the one cup thing. I just wasn't sure how to get that to be added to my ticker yet.

Sorry to blather on but I really enjoy sharing on this forum and the people that contribute their experiences. Everyone is so supportive.

Good job..... I had a good appointment too. I started the cup thing on jan 1 st and I was down 15 pounds today!  The nurse said as she was walking me out he was grumpy until he seen the work I've put into it since the 1st..  If you were next he must have been jumping for joy.   Congrats to you.  It was nice meeting you today.  My heater was still not working when we left so it was a very cold ride home!

Great Job Mona!  That is fantastic and fast. It was great meeting you too and hopefully we'll meet again. I can't wait to hear about your progress.

That sucks that the heater wasn't working. Make sure you get it fixed before the next drive out.

Congratulations ladies!  I officially started my one cup yesterday as per the nurses suggestion. I see the surgeon in a week so I don't know that I will impress him with any weight loss. I hope to lose quickly too. I would not mind it if I had surgery in the next few months. It would be great since the summer is a busy time for me at work.

Are you ladies exercising along with the one cup diet? Or are you losing that quickly based on eating healthy?

Thanks Mel

Hi Mel,

I have been going swimming 5 days a week for 1.5 hours each time.  I just started at christmas and I am addicted.  That said, it has been a little tough for me to religiously stick to the one cup diet. Sometimes it's more like 1.5 cups because I just want to feel satisfied. Luckily I still have managed to lose. I am pretty sure the weight loss is mainly due to eating less but I feel like the swimming is good for toning, stamina etc.

Good luck with starting your 1 cup meals. Drink lots of water!

Hi.

Wow swimming 5 days a week for 1.5 hours? That is great.  I would love to go swimming but I really don't feel comfortable in a bathing suit...yet.

Thanks for the advice to drink lots of water.  Water and herbal tea are helping me but i still haven't felt satisfied with any of my meals...I find I am hungry two hours later.

I think that is great that you have done so well.

 Hey Mel
I have not exercised yet. I was planning on going to the pool jan 2 ,but our pol here is doing maintenance on our pool till the 20 th. so next week I am excited to start at the pool 5 days a week, and then when I am down a few more pounds I want to add something else to my activity .  I have stuck to the one cup thing very religiously , last might was really my first cheat and I had 4 handfuls of microwave popcorn.  I go day by day and try to do this because I want it so bad.  I want to be healthy and able to do the things I want to do.

Hi Mona,

I think it is wonderful that you are doing well on the program and keeping up with your goals.

I wish I had my own pool because I used to love to swim as a kid and when I started to gain weight I stopped.  Right now I am way too big to feel comfortable at a pool.

I am only on day 2 of the one cup and I have been following it properly.  I keep getting headaches but I try to remedy that with water. I keep craving junk and mourning the fact that I can't have it but I keep reminding myself that a new healthy lifestyle is more important.

The dream of shopping in an average store, or feeling comfortable in a bathing suit, has given me motivation to keep going.  The thought of my feet not hurting when walking would be a dream come true.

I feel like I should start exercising sooner than later...anything to boost the weightloss and supplement the one cup diet.  However I need the energy. I have found that despite eating lots of protein I am quite tired.  My brother said that will go away ...I will get used to the diet and then suddenly in a week or two I will have energy.  Here's to that day. I can't wait.

Take care

Mel

I went to my doctor today and got her to send my referral hopefully I will not have to wait until the 1st of May.  I'm really trying to not get my hopes up!

Really happy for you ladies and I'm really looking forward to joining the journey!
