I have my gastroscopy scheduled for Friday and I am terrified. Its been approx 8 weeks since  my RNY surgery.  I sure feel like cancelling!

Congrats on hitting 8 weeks!!  I also have a gastroscopy booked...mine is for Jan 27th. I'm really nervous too :(

How did yours go?  I hope everything went well for you.  Keep us posted :)

Thanks!  The gastroscopy was a peice of cake.  I slept through the whole thing.  The test itself was 3-5 minutes.  Then 20 minutes recovery and I was out the door.  I got some sedation to relax me while I waited and then once I was transferred to the room they were going to do the procedure, I got some more and went to sleep.  I don't recall swallowing or any pain.  The next thing I remember was the nurse saying my name and I was already back in recovery and could leave.  Amazing, amazing drugs!  I have not been groggy all day, plus have no sore throat or  sore belly.  All those weeks of worry for nothing,  Plus I had good results.

Wow!  Awsome. So glad you went and that it wasn't as scary/painful as you thought.  Good news on the results too.  Thanks for sharing!!

Happy New Years!!!!!  :)

What do they do this procedure for?

It's just to make sure everything is healing and working properly.  I hear that my dr. also widened something.  Maybe a narrow spot in my esophogus?  I don't know, I can't tell any difference.
