Well I am home but what a first few days. I didn't think I would feel that awful. Surgery was Tuesday. Felt like crap that day and the next. Felt not bad yesterday except I couldn't pee. So I spent an extra day in hospital. Now I am home and I don't know what too eat and how much. I have all the paperwork that tells me what to do but I am not hungery. Any way time to learn some other stuff to eat.

Heather first I want to say congrats. Second don't worry too much about eating. Now it's time to concentrate on getting your fluids in. You are at high risk of getting dehydrtaed and trust me it's not a nice experience as I have gone through it. Try to keep sipping all day long when you are awake. If you have a medicine cup its great cause you can filled the 30 ml and sip from that. I found having a hugh glass of water in from of me mind boggling cause it felt like I'd never get to the end of it. Have things like jello and popsicles to help up your fluids. The food intake part will come later. I was actually in no hurry to eat and also scared so I didn't start mushies until 3.5 weeks out. Oh i also found warm/hot liquids sat better in my new sleeve than cold. The cold would make me feel like I wa*****hed in the gut.
Wishing you all the best girl.

Kee.

I am feeling for you Heather. I did not feeling like eating when I got home too.  I had to schedule my meals and sometimes a few spoonfuls was enough.  I found trying to get in as much protein as possible, drink my fluids and get my calcium and prenatal vitamin in was near impossible.  I know I didn't drink enough and I still don't.  I feel thirsty all the time and want to gulp but force myself to take tiny sips.  My lips and mouth are constantly dry.  It is important to get those fluids in.  You will find that for the next 3-4 weeks your life will revolve around what you put in your mouth.  When I came home from the hospital, I mostly ate cream soups, yogurt, protein drinks, jello, pudding, popcicles and meal replacements for 2.5 weeks.
I am finally starting week 7 on Monday.  Every new food that I have tried has been alright.  But I do still have fear and am sticking to basic foods like chili, fruit, cooked veggies and very moist meats.  What I have found is watch that you chew enough, and don't drink for half an hour before or after a meal.  I haven't vomited yet but came close when I ate to fast and/or didn't chew enough.  Good Luck!

Hi Heather,

I'm sure you're glad to be at home.  I just managed to get down 2 cups of water today.  One baby spoon of yogurt and it felt like it was stuck in my esophagus!  Everything I have tried tastes bad so I'm with you wondering what to eat.  I mixed up a can of cream of chicken soup two days ago and have had about 1 cup total so far (wee bits at a time).  Are you really bloated and have a ton of gas?  I am finding that part the most uncomfortable.  Here I pictured us being able to chat away in the hospital and having a jolly old time!

LOL, that is funny! I pictured it kinda similar. We be in the same room sharing our grones together. Instead we were on opposite ends of the hallway. The first night was bad. The morning after was worse. Taking the ride down for the swallow study. Every bump made me want to puke. Then the contrast... Gross. I was told the would give us gas and the runs. I have had some gas as well. The worst part was detoxing from coffee which I knew I should have done before but couldn't bring my self to do. Now the problem I have is heart burn I think. My husband told me I'm not allowed to go away on anymore spa adventures so I guess we will have to cancel that...lol...it is different being on the other side. When we are both better we need to do something to celebrate our time since we didn't really get a chance.

Sounds good, we need a celebration!.  I think the nausea was way worse than pain. I actually didn't have a whole lot of pain, it's the nausea, gas, etc. that I found worse.  Second day was definitely the worst.  There was a third guy in the same time as us, he seemed to be doing not too bad at all!  It's all getting a bit better day by day and when I read other peoples' posts, that seems to be the norm.  No more spa adventures for me for a week or two either
