Panni Surgery

Had my panni surgery oct. 19.  As soon as i came out of surgery i was bleeding....alot.  Each time I tried to stand a eventually stood in a pool of blood and almost fainted each time.  My dr. came in and said the fainting was from narcotics not blood loss..perhaps one shot of morphine was all i had.  The nurses were concerned and when blood work came back showed hemoglobin was 74 !!

My doctor came in and said i could stay another night (how lovely, ugh) and i had a blood transfusion and even had a reaction to that.

Went home on Friday and kept bleeding through incision and drainage sites.

two week later i was in and out of er about 2-3 x/day as well as homecare daily.  Tried to get in contact with surgeon and his secretary said everything is ok get family dr to call.....

Halloween saw family dr. and he called surgeon...he was out of province and no one to take over his patients....so i saw surgeon in town where i live and he operated to insert new drainage.
Draining and draining to date....will see him next tuesday.
Blood levels coming up, starting to feel better.

What is disappointing experience.....

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Keep your chin up and remember to speak up! You have to be your own advocate sometimes.  I hope you feel better soon.
Which surgeon did you see for your operation?

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for all concern.  I still have new drainage in and have developed an infection at the site which was bleeding and where the new tubes are...ugh...although I do feel better mentally and am starting to do small things around the house. (Like cooking which I enjoy).
Tried to swiffer and mop floors today - ooops....not yet.

I see the surgeon on Tuesday, and am supposed to see Dr. Davey on Wednesday (he initially did the panni surgery) but am going to cancel.  I am still to angry to see him.

I am going to try to work this week....

I am so frustrated with this whole process....but at least it is done.

Just to let everyone know, I am recovering slow but sure.  I am back to work and have been told still to take it easy well into January.  I am swollen around the bottom of my tummy and pubic area but I am told this is normal, but still they have to watch me  No extensive exercise, just light cardio.

Still hard to sleep (I am a stomach sleeper) not able to sleep on my stomach yet.

Just one more visit to homecare (fingers crossed) my incision is almost closed.

All in all...feeling alot better !!

Take care all !!
