Like alot of you, I check out the comments regularily, but  don't say a whole lot. I am waiting for a surgery date with Karmali. I have my scope booked for Nov.17th. Does anyone know if I have to wait until after the scope before I get a call with my surgery date or is it possible they will give me one before that. Karmali had said I should have surgery within 30 days after my scope. I am just getting very anxious so very much want a date. Can I phone the booking office and ask?

for your own safety they usually wait until, the scope results are back, and you would want that also.... yeah it is such a tense time... but you are almost there...... so very happy for you... it will be the most important positive decision that you will make... here's to better health... keep us in the loop as to your surgery date... so that we may celebrate with you.,... tammy

thank you so much Tammy for your response. I am just so excited and anxious to have this surgery. It has been a very long haul, but I am so glad I took this road. I have learnt so much from the Weight Wise Clinic, when I thought I knew it all already. This forum has also help me keep focus and by seeing all the successes and as well the difficulties, it has given me so much to look forward to.
I will keep you all posted once I get a surgery date.

Hi,
I'm also waiting for a surgery call for Dr. Karmali.   I had my scope on September 30 and didn't actually get on the waitlist until October 13, once Dr. Karmali had reviewed the results.  I talked to my nurse at Weight Wise and to the booking desk as I had some scheduling to plan.  The booking desk said Dr. Karmali has a long wait list and is fully booked until beginning of December and is not doing many surgeries during December.  Mid-January would be my earliest date.  Hope this helps give you some kind of time line.  It is an anxiety filled wait, for sure!

thank you for this info. Karmali had told me that after the scope it is usually around 30 days after that that you have the surgery. You put it in better perspective as I was hoping I would have it before Christmas, but looks like it won't be awhile yet. Good luck and I hope they give you a date soon.

My referal to the Weight Wise Clinic was in August 2009. I started the modules in Nov.2009. I finally got into the Clinic in May 2011. It seemed to take forever, but really it has gone by very fast and I needed that time to learn from the modules and apply them to my life. It has all been well worth it, and everytime someone asks me if I might change my mind, I have never thought of it. I can't wait!

I was referred by my physician in October, 2010.  My first appointment was in May, 2011.  While I was waiting between referral and first appointment, I took the modules, tracked my food and wore a pedometer.  I also had regular meetings with a group at my doctors.  When I got the initial call (March, 2011) to book my first appointment, I was told they were doing a kind of "pilot" fast track progrm.  The people that were doing the tracking, etc. that I was doing, were getting in faster as our process had already been started.

So, If your friend wants to be referred, my advice would be to start all the modules.  You need to have at least 4 (I think it's 4) to qualify.  Anyone can register for the modules, you don't need to be in Weight Wise.  Food tracking, pedometer and working with her physician as well.  The time really has gone by quickly, I didn't have to wait very long at all it seems!

Hello Everyone Im new to the forum. Yesterday I went to my regular doctor and she told me I was "prime" canadiate. She referred me to the new weight wise clinic in Leduc - I do my modules - get an appointment with the surgeon and then get the surgery date and go back to Leduc. She figured 6 months max to surgery. I told her - it was either here or I was gonna go to Mexico. She told me if to stay here and she assured me 6 months tops....what is the real process here? I really want it and like the idea of the weight wise clinic and modules - but if its gonna be another 2 yrs - ill book my flight :0)
