Hi,

Can anyone advise what kind of protein powders you used during the first few weeks after surgery?  I am trying to find some that seem to be the kindest on taste and tummy for after my surgery.

Also I know I can have sugar-free popsicles after surgery.  I must be stupid but I cannot find suger-free popsicles.  I only find no suger added popsicles.  Can you tell me where you are buying the suger free ones?

Thanks!

Giselle

Im not sure exactly where to get them. ( I'm not close to that stage yet )
But you can make your own. Find some popscicle molds and try using a sugar free drink mix like crystal lite or whatever you like to drink.

Take care!

Beneprotein works pretty good.  Just don't add it to really hot liquids.  Safeway or Saveon pharmacies were great about ordering it in.

After buying the Beneprotein and a half dozen other brands I discovered my sleeve couldn't handle protein powders and so I either was able to bring them back or throw them out.
I ate alot of the sugar free Popsicles and I got them at Extra foods, I also used the sugar free Freezies which are on Clearance at Wal-Mart right now.

I saw the sugar free at Safeway as well. They said on them "no sugar added" so I examined the box further and it listed Splenda as the sweetener......

I couldn't do protein drinks pre or post surgery.....they give me nasty disgusting "problems".....I did mainly soup/broths with milk/condensed milk for the first few weeks post op. Some people have trouble with lactose for a while after surgery but I was fine with it....

Beneprotein is fine to add to foods because its mostly tasteless, my issue was that it didnt seem like that much protein. If you can find a shake/smoothie that you like you will get more bang for your buck. Just my opinion!

Thanks for the advice.  I will try to order in some Beneprotein.  Or maybe I can find it at Popeye's or other health food stores.  I would also like to know of any good protein powders for shakes.  One I have heard of is whey isolate - Fruit Blast that you can get at Popeyes.  Everyone's tastes are different, I know, but its good to hear what works for some bariatric patients.

I checked Save-On and found some no sugar added popcicles from Western Family and they were sweetened with aspartame.  What about some things sweetened with sucrolose?  Are we allowed sucrolose?  I searched high and low for some homemade popcicls forms and you wouldn't think they are hard to find...well they are.  I guess they are a seasonal thing.  I ended up finding some small ones at a dollar store.  Sheesh, who would guess.

I go in for for my RNY surgery next Monday.  Yes halloween!  It's suppose to done by lap so hopefully the plan doesn't change.  I am a little nervous about the pain and nausea afterwards.
