Fustration!!
ok so last week I was feeling very crappy. I kinda felt like my body was crashing on me...so Went to see my co-worker who took my blood pressure--Normal. So I squeezed in with one of our family Physicians cause mine is never in the clinic these days. He tells me it sounds like my iron is low and sends me for blood work..fasting blood sugars too so I went the next morning. today he calls me in my office to tell me that they( either iron or HGB) are only 115 and should be 120 and thats not that low that I shouldn't be that tired...make sure I eat some raisins!! I was like WTF..I can't eat raisins..they are full of sugar?!?!?! I called my surgeons office to let my nurse know I had blood work done, and if she had any concerns before I see her next month to call me. I currently looking for a new family doctor and I'm gonna bring her a manual on RNY and nutrition..hopefully together we can figure it out. I wish that there was more support post-op other than monthly meetings as a group and a check-up every 3 months. I honestly think once we have Bariatric surgery we should be able to give our family doctors a small booklet on our special needs, so when things they don't give bad advice!! No we can't have NSAIDS, no we can't eat thing hight in sugar or fat! No we can't drink gingerale or take meds with alcohol in them!! I feel so fustrated!! So my iron is low, so far I've switch my chewables for prenatal vitamins cause they have 27mg of iron so times that by 3 times a day, I'm eating soya nuts mixed with raisins, eating spinach in my salads ( allergic to almonds) steamed broccoli, not sure what else to do... I just don't think my body is absorbing it well. Any Ideas????
nothing worse than feeling crappy. look how much weight you have lost. did you have a full round of blood work done when you were 6 months out? i was told to take maternity vitamins. i also do the b100. those help with nerves, mood and energy levels. they say to take the b 12 but i think the 100's have way more in them and help myself like you wouldn't believe. if your iron is low, you can buy it over the counter. if you are a younger female, sure wouldn't hurt. but all in all, start on the B100, my nutrionist knows i've been on them since surgery and they really do make a difference. you will notice the difference if you are lacking something within a week. good luck
