Pre-Admission Appointment
Tomorrow is my pre-admit appt at the Royal Alex Hospital. Scheduled time is 8 o'clock.
How long should I expect this appt. to take and what kind of stuff can I expect? If there is bloodwork should I be fasting? The clerk who booked this with me wasn't very knowledgable or helpful!
If you have been there, done that, I would appreciate your input.
Only 2 weeks until surgery now and most of the jitters have passed. Very ancious now to get started on my new lifestyle.
Thanks

If memory serves me right I was there a little over 7 hours. It started off with a video that took about 45 minutes and then I was put in a room and left there forever..lol..well it was along time and during that time the nurse came and went, an intern that did an ekg on my heart came and went, the anesthologist came and went and then another nurse, a lab tech and no I didn't fast. Actually bring a snack and some water cause you're gonna need it and maybe some magizines or a book. I can actually remember taking a little nap while waiting on the gurney and also the room was freezing cold.
Good Luck.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't. Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened. My Surgery was September 21/2010
i remember how excited i was....this was just the pre op appointment! yes take a magazine, plan to spend some time alone in a room waiting. no need to fast, they just want to check all your blood work, everything will be fine. i think i was there for maybe close to 3 hours. nothing major.....no.... its time to get excited about your surgery!
