Day 1 of liquid diet

OK i have almost made it through the first day of my liquid diet. Feeling a little hungry but it is probably head hunger. Trying to keep busy doing odd jobs around the house.

Tomorrow my daughter is coming over to help me clean out the frige and pantry and dispose of all the stuff that I will probably not be eating for a very long time! If the temptations aren't around I will  be less likely to cheat. I told my husband he is on his own with cooking meals for the next little while as i adjust to the liquid diet.

Three weeks seems like a really long time but I have confidence in myself that I can do this! My surgery date of Sept. 27 is just around the corner and I am on my way to a healthier life.

Thanks for the offer of the ensure Sarah. I am diabetic so have to drink Glucerna and Diabetic Boost.

Day 2 has started a little better. I actually feel full after my breakfast of Glucerna in a blender with ice cubes and a decaf coffee!!

Lee at Weight Wise is my Nut. and I can have broth but no milk.

Day 1 finished and 20 more to go!

I don't have my surgery date yet but I will have to drink Glucerna as well.  I'm not looking forward to it at all because Carlene gave me one to taste and it is just awful.  I don't know how I will ever choke down 5 of them a day.  Have you found any other way to make it taste better?

I put the Glucerna in a blender with a few ice cubes and it makes a sort of slushy that I can eat with a spoon. I  tried the chocolate flavor  with a tsp. of instant coffee added to it with the ice in the blender and it tasted like a jamocha shake. Going to try the vanilla tomorrow with some crystal lite powder and see how it tastes. I find the glucerna easier to get down when it is really cold.

I have found that I have a lot of gurgling and gas. A cup of hot peppermint tea with a bit if sweetner seems to help.

My diet calls for 3 glucerna and 1 diabetic boost a day with 6-8 cps of other liquids. I also had a sugar free popsicle today which wasn't on my list but only 10 cal. the same as crystal lite so I didn't feel too guilty. It was good to chew something. Also chewing sugar free gum seems to help.

If you're allowed coffee or tea I can tell you a way to make them WAY better. (only vanilla or chocolate)

Pour the Boost or glucerna into a BIG mug, nuke it for a minute and fill the mug with hot coffee or tea. Chocolate with coffee makes a pretty darned good mocha. Vanilla with chai makes a yummy chai latte.

Yak!!! I have Dr. Birch on the 19th to make a final decision on the type of sx. (I've chosen the VSG) I am diabetic (Type 2) so will probably have to do the Glycerna or Diabetic Boost as well. Keep those recipes and ideas of how to make it palatable coming ladies. Just the thought of the plain supplements makes me want to yak!! The international coffee's have a calorie reduced product that's 10 cal. /tsp.....could I add a little of that to it to jazz it up??? For a "Treat" I've been adding it to ice and coffee in the blender as it's been hot out. Thoughts on this ladies?
