Question
So with my surgery date scheduled my appointment with the nurse and dietitian was cancelled. Should I be having bloodwork, forms or anything signed before surgery? Does this come as part of another call? Can someone let me know if they have forgotten a step or if I am just over paranoid?
Thanks
Deanne

I am also scheduled for RNY surgery with Dr. Karmali on Sept. 27. I was told the hospital would call me with a pre-admission apt. that will be 2-3 weeks before the surgery date. This is a 3-4 hr. apt. and bloodwork etc. is done then. Still waiting for the call for this apt. but hopefully it w3ill come soon! Good luck with your surgery. I will see you on the loser's bench!

My surgery is scheduled for August 16th - also VSG with Dr. Karmali.
I hadn't heard from the hospital about the pre-op appointment so called them to set it up (780-735-4121). Will be spending tomorrow morning there and have my book and liquids ready to go.
Good luck to Deanne and everyone else who is scheduled soon!

Deanne,
If you haven't already, call your nurse and make sure she knows the date.
I'm assuming you've already done or are booked for your pre-surgery classes (preparing for surgery and maintaining the change) Yes? If not, you need to get those booked. They answer alot of questions in those classes.
Uhmmm....I recall having bloodwork done before my preop appt (3-4 hour one) at the hospital.
Do you have any pre operative fasting for Karmali? You should know about this already too and your nurse and dietician would be advising you on this.
Sounds like a quick call wouldn't hurt, if you are unsure about anything.
You already would have signed your consent for surger4y when Karmali approved you. So no worries there.
