How can I et so much
help, i had my surgery 2 weeks ago and think i am eatting too much. it seemed after the inital pain was gone, i was hungry all the time. False hunger? i was eatting cottage cheese and salmon i did get in trouble for this from lee so back to liquids for another few days. what can i do, id didn't have this surgery to be able to eat fast food again. i have lost 12 lbs since surgery which is on track but don't want my hunger to get any stronger or be able to fit more in my pouch. i did have the ryn, how can this be.....
Hi Bonnie,
I still never get the true hunger feeling. For a while I would find myself wanting something out of habit, they say the habitual eating is hard to beat...you can do it! If you think you are feeling hungry try drinking more water, I often experience an empty feeling where I know I either need to drink or if it is close to meal time, eat. However, drinking always seems to make the "empty" feeling disappear.
As my dr told me, the further out of surgery you get and as your swelling goes down eating will be more comfortable. As the prior post said, don't eat until you feel full. Once you are on solids it will depend on what you are eating as to how much you can handle. I find that if it is protien I can usually eat less.
I think the fear of stretching your pouch is probably a normal feeling for all of us. If you are concerned about what or how much you are eating give the dietician a call that you saw.
Congrats on the 12 pound loss so far! Keep up the good work!
Take care and talk to you later!

I felt that way too after my surgery. I was told because there was so much gas in me it felt like I was hunger, because of the movement and the acid and all the changes in my tummy. It takes awhile to find out how your body is going to adjust and heal. I promise you though, you WILL feel full when you get to mushies. I had a big struggle with head hunger as well. Did you feel full when you had the salmon?
still don't ever get the full feeling, probably because i don't know what it is ha ha, after all these years of eatting what every i want when ever. i know so much of it is head hunger and i'm so scared of doing something wrong. you see some posts where people lose so much weight in the first month and i'm not, that is what bothers me. i must quit obsessing over everything and just measure my food, eat only whats aloud and get my excercise in. i know once i get back to work, moving, the weight will start to come off more, than taking it easy and trying to to injure any of my insides.
i am just a few days out . I had VSG on Wed may 18th. been home a few days now and i have to time myself to eat.. and i find im not quite drinking enough water either. I dont feel hungry..or thirsty for that matter. All the tummy noises are amusing.. to not only me but my two kids :) they say my tummy is alive LOL. im not even thinking about cottage cheese or salmon. ... although... an iced coffee from mcdonalds you know just a sip... really sounds good.. but i dont for fear i will do something to my new stomache.
hope things get easier for you.
