May/11 Referral to Dr. Farries's Clinic.

Hello!
I was also referred on May  2nd.  I called back a week later to make sure I was on the list and she told me that I am number 117 out of 181 people. 
She said it could take up to one year to get called for the first consultation but it may be sooner.

I was under the impression that all 3 doctors are performing surgeries now... Was hoping that meant a shorter wait time. 

Mykmini: it's encouraging to know that your first appt. was booked 3 months after the referral.  do u think there's any reason to believe us May referral people will have to wait a whole year before having a consultation? (I can understand a delay due to the move, but waiting a whole year seems unrealistic)

One more question.... does anyone know how often they take referrals during the year?

I was under the impression they only take referrals once a year in May. However, when my doctors office first called, the receptionist said the referral process  may be changing next year.

Hi Everyone, I find this very strange...I called today and they told me i am 187 on the list. and I was also referred May 2, It is very frustrating. After this experience, I certainly understand why Canadians do go to Mexico for this much needed surgery. Lets keep this going for sure. Take care everybody.

Hi, I have noi dea what number I am on the list. They didn't tell me. I wonder how many consults they do a week?
Hopefully with summer upon us the time will go by fast for those of us waiting!

HI you can call Dr. Farries number at the cinic. That How I found out...and she said 187 on th4e list which would be approximately 1 year. That is even before a consult....Not sure what I will do yet..

I thought it was only once a year also.... so I busted my butt to get time off work to sit at my Doctor's office and harass them to make the call on May 2nd!!
When I saw that others were referred in Feb. this year I was really surprised!

PS  I live in Airdrie.

Are there any surgeons in Calgary that you know of?

I recently had surgery by Dr Farries. I cant help a whole lot on the timelines cuz my story is kinda messed up lol. but i put in my first referral in in may 2006 and my appt wasnt until march 2007 so it was a 10 month wait. My second referral was put in may 2008 and i never got a call at all...... my referral had been lost:( Low and behold..........it all worked out and i have had surgery!! There are 3 surgeons now but not entirely sure how they are working it. I know that the 3 surgeons are taking patients but at this point i have only heard of dr farries actually preforming the surgery. rumor has it that the other 2 will be starting surgery shortly.

 I doubt it will be a year. To me that does not make sense. Their goal is to get new patients through the process and have surgery in less then a year, so I would think the referral wait time would be under a year, but who knows? I do think it will be delayed due to the move but I can`t imagine a whole year. Keep us updated though!!

Yeah I have no clue how often the referral days are now. I thought it was in May (or march, one of the `M` months) when I called in January. They told me next was Feb. 3rd so I was like okay! and got on my fam. physician to call in. I actually did not know they were doing another in May, I thought they moved the date not made 2. So there very well may be another one or 2 this year. Who knows?

I really like nurse Christine, she is so sweet. Which is good cause I hear you see her alot! I also did not mind Dr.F. He intimidated me a bit but he was very informative and positive. Btw, he does not like the terminology RnY.. so say Gastric Bypass around him. :)

My doctor refered me to Dr. Farries as well.  I'm currently waiting for the phone call from them too.

I'm new here and just researching information about it all.  Of course I'm nervous about it all.
