Anyone told to....
Has anyone been told they need to stop losing weight?
I am 5'7 and currently 161-165lbs, down from 287. I am female however i do have hormone issues and have a very masculine body (something that doesnt bother me at all)....I know a lot of what I have left is skin and I do have an upcoming appointment with the plastic surgeon...
People at work have approached me and told me that I should stop losing weight, that look healthy, that I look good...
I don't feel I'm done, however I am content with my size (men's small/medium...32-34 waist pants)...I do have a huge issue with the skin around my waist though....
I am also obsessed with the scale number...my surgeon initially told me I'd be about 140 so I am now fixated on that number and don't know how to get over that....
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

Jen you have done amazing.
I'm currently sitting at 177 and my goal is 140. My nurse at the clinic has told me to stop losing the weight now and start maintaining so they can refer me to the plastic surgeon. Seriously like you I am not ready to stop yet. No one has told me I look sick yet but I figure it's coming soon. I don't feel like I'm done and I am also obsessed with the scale, it's my new best friend.
I guess I'm not much help but at least you know you're not alone.
Kee.

Good Morning, i just thought i would sent this note for you everyone to think about. A friend reminded me to remember that as i start having my surgeries for the excess skin there will be at least an approx. 20-30 lbs of skin removed from the weight loss and that would bring me to or below my desired weight. This was just something i hadn't really thought about as i am also fixated on the scale numbers> :)
Ok I am pre-op, but here is my thoughts on it.
1- Unless it is your surgeon, dietician, etc. (some sort of wls related professional) telling you to stop losing I would ignore them. It is not your co-worker/friend/family's decision on what your final number is. It is up to you with the guidance of your medical professionals. Now, if your surgeon was telling you to stop because you are getting close, or in the underweight category that is a different story.
2- I was reading on here that one will gain back about 20lbs after 18mo-a couple years out. I read it is because your body will become more effecient in absorbing calories from food. Maybe this is the fattie in me who never wants to be again (after surgry) but I would be okay with being smaller then my goal (if possible) to make up for that 20lbs I will gain.
Anyway, sorry you are feeling pressured when you are not where you want to be. You look great though! =)
