Help me set a (realistic) goal weight
I have not had my official first weigh in, but I am aroiund 315lbs according to my home scale. I am a 5ft 4inch shortie.
According to a website calculator, to be in the middle of the healthy BMI range I will need to be 135lbs. To me, especially looking at myself now it seems impossible. Is it a realistic goal?
I am intending on having the RnY if it is decided that this wilol be the right surgery for me. I will be exstatic just to be healthy, but I zam hoping for a goal weight to focus on. What do you all think? How did you pick your goal weight?
Thanks ladies!

Check out the "Ideal Weight Calculator" at Calculator.net that will give you a weight range rather than a spacific weight. I wouldn't put so much faith into the BMI system it is flawed. Bodyfat is a better gauge to go by for your healthy weight range.
For example I put in 5'4" for age 25 and the range comes up pretty wide 107.8 lbs to 145.6 lbs. Every body is different your body fat % is more important. You might have a smaller frame and have a normal amount of muscle for that frame and be at 145 lbs and have a high BF% and lower BMI. A woman who has a bigger frame with more muscle and lower BF% and the BMI will say she is obese.
I hope that helps

I saw Dr Sharma yesterday, and in and around what turned out to be a very difficult appointment, he explained a lot about realistic sustainable weight goals. (sustainable is hugely important) Your realistic, sustainable goal is very individual, based on age, sex, sustainable activity level and a bunch of other stuff, which means it's really not something that can be easily worked out with simple math.
Mine turned out to be a lot different than I had any idea of, but now that I've had time to process what he told me, I'm coming to acceptance.
So, my best advice is to wait and talk to your dietitian and nurse - they'll be able to work out a pretty good idea of where you can go and STAY. We've all done the yoyo thing, with help that can be over.
