Hi there,

Yes I to have had that more often than not.  Yes you need to keep the sodium down but remember to keep the water levels balanced.  I find if I do not get my water comsumption into me daily when I finally do my weight increases.  I have been told it is our bodies way of keeping what it needs..

Understanding Water Weight Retention

Losing weight can be pretty confusing if you don't know abou****er weight retention. Every healthy adult in the world has to deal with water retention and the weight gain that comes with i****er weight is the culprit in more than a few cases of sudden weight gain.

To cut right to the quick of it: day to day fluctuations in weight are almost always caused by loss and gain in bodily fluids. Water retention weight gain is really the most common type of weight gain.

So, it's possible to retain up to five pounds or so of water weight. The heavier you are the more water retention you're likely to experience, especially if you eat more processed foods, as these tend to contain a lot more water than raw ingredients.

Even though day-to-day water gain typically only makes up a few pounds of weight, it's not uncommon to put on a whopping ten pounds of water weight around the holidays.

I've noticed my scale can fluctuate up to 4-5 lbs in a day depending on what I've eaten, if I've had a bm or not taken in enough water.

My dietician says that weight fluctuations are normal as long as the long-term trend is down.  It's when the extra weight stays on or goes higher and higher over time that we're in trouble and need to look at changing things.

Also, I've noticed when my hormones change I tend to gain or lose weight more easily.

It could be a multitude of factors, but my main point is don't stress unless it's an upward trend over time.

So I'm just over 6 months out and this week I've experience the same thing. it's very frustrating and hard on the head. It's making me think I'm doing something wrong or that I'm failing. Earlier in the week I was 180 and this morning I was 183.8. I' hoping it's just the nasty hormone thing playing with my nerves but I think I also may have slipped a little with balancing water and food again. I sometimes loss sight of how far I've come and dwell on these bumps in the road.

Good Luck and I hope for the both of us things go back to normal.

Kee.
