If I could manage that much protein I'd be ecstatic! I think that should be close enough. I'm wondering as we lose weight does that number change?  If you look at the dietician sheets from Dr. Nohr the protein requirements go by weight. I like to assume as we lose weight the protein requirement decreases as well. Then I don't feel as bad for not getting enough in.

I think we went based on the chart with our height and ideal weight to get the protein requirement. I guess if we got lower than that the requirement would go down a little. I was considering that I got 50 to 55 grams right from day two of liquids!! Then 70 for quite some time! Now I just don't feel like forcing myself beyond hunger! That's what got me here in the first place!!!

Im really struggling getting the right amount of protein in. Do you get yours in primarily with food or are you doing many protein shakes?

Dori, I think you need to share a sample of what your menu for a day looks like cause there are lots of us girls that can't get close to where you are for daily protein. There are days when I don't even get 40 grams and those days are pretty frequent. I should be at 80 grams a day but I just can't do it. I also can't have milk products so that doesn't help with protein.

Kee that would be a problem!
I eat cottage cheese, yogurt, milk and a small piece of block cheddar VERY frequently! As snacks.
Lunch at work is usually a Lean Cuisine or canned chili and a small portion of raw veggies.
Dinner ranges, but i can eat 3 oz of meat some veggie and a 1/4 cup of carbs, usually whole grain. Or 3/4 cup of pasta with meat, whole grain.
If i don't have enough by the end of the day I have a glass of milk, cheese and crackers on occasion...

Weekend breakfast maybe 2 scrambled eggs or eggbeaters and 1 piece of bacon or sausage.
I have a Boost diabetic on occasion when I need help or I am travelling.. but i am finding it too sweet lately.

Have you discovered the joys of soy nuts yet? 1/2 cup has 240 calories and 18 grams of protein - not bad for a handful of crunchy goodness. I've made up a bunch of teeny ziplocs with 1/4 cup in for carrying in my purse. Bars are all very well, but I get so tired of sweet...

Those teeny tins of tuna salad are also a pretty darned good protein source if they sit ok in your tummy. Most flavours have 18-20 grams of protein per teeny tin.

I keep hearing about people not being able to eat dairy after surgery - I hope I'm not one of them.
