So tonight I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tryed Quinoa, i love that 1/4c of it had 8 grams of protein for such a small amount and I actually like it.

I have been told numerous times to eat a carb with my meal and have been having a hard time doing so cause most of them have no protein and they fill me up too fast.

Now when I go back to my appt's I can tell them I tryed something new and listened to them at the same time.

Cookingquinoa.net has some good receipes for Quinoa, hope some of you will give it a try if you haven't already.

Kee.

I have tried quinoa before as well and I liked it.  The recipe I made was a Turkey quinoa meatloaf, I believe the recipe I used was from allrecipes.com

Thanks Jill, I'm gonna have to give it a try. I'll probably use a muffin pan to make smaller individual servings instead of a loaf but it does sound yummy.

Or you could make the loaf and then cut it up into individual servings.  I did that and froze it for lunches or days where I didn't want to make supper.

Hey Kee! I just made a quinoa salad yesterday! I cook the quinoa in a bit of chicken buillion for flavour and then cool it in the fridge. Then I mix it up with crumbled feta, chopped cucumber, peppers, tomatoes, fresh dill, and some garbanzo beans. It fills me up for a long time and it has lots of protein. Fresh and great for lunches at work.

I haven't done salad with my quinoa but I may have to try that...that sounds so good!! I pretty much use Quinoa in replace of rice. I also make it with chicken buillion in place of water. I made some mexican quinoa...oh that was good!!

I love Quinoa! I cook it in my rice cooker and freeze the leftovers in single portion sizes.
I also freeze broth (chicken and beef) in small portions - actually with an ice tray - and use that to add some flavour if I'm rewarming the Quinoa.
Or, I mix cold Quinoa with tuna and vegetables.
Or stirfry it, or add some to soup..... I'm just beginning to explore the variety of ways to use it, but it's great.

In my opinion its a cross betwen rice and pasta. It's a full grain protein and its yummy. Try goggleing it to find out more about it.
