Hi Shelley,
I had gastric bypass on march 21st. I had problems with my hemoglobin dropping so it made me quite weak, dizzy and tired. Yesterday April 1st (11 days post op) i went on an outing to the mall, got my hair done, a little shopping, then home, then out for dinner for hubbys bday and out for the evening. Hair appt went good, had few dizzy spells and weakness during shopping, but rest of evening went very well. Hope that helps!! Typically i tire out quickly but feel well. As long as you are going on a restful trip i think it should all be good!!

I am just having my consultation on Tuesday so no advice here.... just wondering, how long did you have to wait for your surgery after your initial consult with Dr. Nohr ?

I was to wait about a year but they had someone cancel so I grabbed at it. Only hgave me 6 weeks to prepare

Hey Shelly
To be honest I wouldn't count on it...
I had my surgery on march 3, 2010...had complications...was barelyable to move for almost a month....you have to be careful about infections and my advice is to stay close to home and close to your surgeon....because ID you have complications other dr's don't want to risk touching you because most don't understand gastric bypass....

I agree with Jen...try to stick close to home. I had my RNY on July 13 and had complications and went back in for emergency surgery. I wasn't able to resume "normal" life until about mid august with taking it extremely slow and didn't get the all clear from my doctor until October. So just be carefully and try to stay close to home for at least the first few weeks after your surgery.
