Take my response for what it is, but my friend who had RnY a year ago told me that she was asleep for her endoscope. She said it did not hurt but her throat was a bit sore when she awoke. She obviously does not remember it or did not feel it during the procedure.

Hope that helps some!

You'll likely be sedated.  Everyone I know was sedated with theirs, I was with mine too.

I don't remember an iota of the exam.  Not a thing.

They said I fought against the exam and gagged a lot, but honest to goodness you don't remember it.

So don't worry, and it's a very QUICK exam at that!

The worst part is over thinking it.  Just trust in the doctors and nurses and they will take great care of you.  I worried and fretted ...and really it was all for nothing! :)

You'll do fine, it will be fine!

Sincerely,
Dreena

Do I need to bring someone to drive me home?

Absolutely!  You're going to be nappish.

Someone to take you there and drive you home is necessary, or they won't let you leave!

 Yes because of the anesthetic.
