Order of appointments?

I was just reading another member's timeline and am a wee bit confused. My intake appointment was last week, I saw a dietitian on Monday - so far, seems about the same. Then I looked up the Dr I'm seeing March 8th, a Dr Yaltho. A psychiatrist so soon? Is this something I should be concerned about?
On another note - the 1400 calorie bit is turning out to be pretty easy after all. The main tricks seem to be to avoid eating out and record as soon as I eat. The pattern she gave is surprisingly easy to follow. Now to hope the rest of the hoops are as straightforward.

I called the clinic and asked, since there are 2 Dr Yalthos listed for Edmonton - one a GP in family practice as best I can tell, and a psychiatrist who works from the Alec. Well, either the GP is now specializing or there's another one, but the one I'm seeing is indeed an internist. Ok, back to 1# a week mode.
A happy note - you know the first week drop on any new diet? 6# since Monday! NEXT week will be 1#.

Dr Yaltho is an internist, and if she is the one I'm thinking of, an extreme stickler for the "rules". I almost quit the program because of her comments and her attitude. (I had gained 2 pounds over christmas. It was a victory to me, the year previous I had gained over 20 pounds. I left that appointment feeling worse than a failure.) Make sure you bring all your records (food logs, pedometer records, etc.) And, be positive! You are doing fantasic!

I'm supposed to record my pedometer readings each day too? Sheesh, I've yet to find ONE program for all of the recording I'm doing. I'm using LoseIt! again so I can keep on top of all the dietitian wants me to do, but there's no place in it for daily notes. THAT would be the place to put stuff like exercise, since recording anyplace else in the App increases my calories - and there's no place at all for something like steps. Sigh. Just when I think I have a handle on all this...
I did find some notes about Dr Yaltho on the net and the comments weren't very nice. sigh...

My appointment was today and I'm choosing to see it as very positive. The bad news it that the 24# I lost on my own this past year means nothing to them. Only the 8 that they recorded since my intake visit counts toward the amount they want me to lose before moving on to a surgeon. OTOH, she said I only need to lose another 6 kilos, and I know I can manage that over the next few months.
She told me a long list of requirements before getting to the "referral to a surgeon" bit and the only 2 I still have to do are lose that 6 kilos and get in the habit of drinking EIGHT glasses of water each day. Whew! That's a lot of water! (I managed 2 today) I have a feeling the water is going to be considerably harder than the weight, but I WILL do it.
She says I don't need to see anyone else for now (I'm assuming that's good?) and to just work on the weigh****er, and keeping up the stuff I'm already doing. My next clinic appointment is my dietitian on the 23rd, and I'm hoping to have another couple of pounds off by then.

PS. Is there anything that "counts" as water other than plain old H2O?? Herbal tea? Broth? (decaf?)

Good Morning Kelly-Anne,
Pretty much any liquid counts towards your total fluid intake. Sugar Free is always preferable. Milk, Tea, Coffee, sf Iced Tea... any fluid counts towards your total. The doc's like H20 because it's easy and it's the best for us.
I'm so glad that you've settled into a routine. Journaling is easy and so good for us. I'm down almost 200 lbs and I still journal every day. It's so helpful when we stall... or when we have a blip and gain back a couple of pounds... we can look over our journal and pin point why and when we stumbled. And believe me we ALL stumble...
It seems so hard to wait for a couple of months for surgery, but one of the support staff at WW told me this little ditty.... the work that we do to loose weight and the wait for surgery are all training for the rest of our life (with some variations) so the wait is just as important as the surgery itself... So we wait, we learn, we change our lives.
I'm so glad that things are going well for you...

It sounds like I don't need to fret about my appointment with her then.
I'm actually looking forward to my next weigh-in at the clinic. According to my scale I'm down exactly 10# since I saw my dietitian 2.5 weeks ago and I'm feeling pretty pumped.
My food journal is ready to print, I've found a way to add my steps to my LoseIt log, and I've been sticking to the program my dietitian laid out. Now all I have to do is be on time - but not forget my knitting, since I've yet to have any Dr appt be at the time set. Lol
