Three more sleeps!

I've picked up a few travel size items, got the earplugs (thanks for the suggestions!), need to dig out a sleep mask or buy one as I'm very sensitive to light!  Got gas-x strips....did anyone really use these and did they work?

Will pack my bag this weekend.  Oh my word the time is almost here!

I'll try to have someone update with how I'm doing and then I'll decide if I"m up to visitors ok!?

Thanks everyone :)

Good luck Dreena.  I am sure it will be fine.  Gas-x didn't work for me only moving around seemed to help and it took me about two weeks to get rid of all the gas they pump inside you.  But they may work better for you.
Wishing you all the best and a positive experience.
See you on the losers bench.  There is lots of room for you

I brought Gas-X with me, but I was told by the nurses that I wasn't allowed to take anything that they didn't give to me.  I also found that walking around and a few days really helped to get rid of the gas.

Don't forget your lip balm and your pillow for the car ride home.  The lip balm helps when you can't drink anything and you're really dry.  And those bumps while driving, no matter how small they were they really seemed to hurt and the pillow really helps.

I think the only thing I used in the hospital were my slippers and my lip balm and really stretchy comfy pants for the ride home.  I had packed magazines and a book and clothes, but I spent most of my time sleeping so the rest of the stuff was pointless.

You'll do great, Dreena!  Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery!

I used my gas-x strip the day after surgery and my nurse knew I was using them and she was fine with it. She was a good nurse and recommended that I use warm blankets to help alleviate some of my tummy pains and it worked. I had gas problems for about the first 2 weeks.
I couldn't find my sleep mask the first night cause my memory was bad and I couldn't remember where my cousin said she put it so the night nurse made me one with gauze, cutest thing ever...not.... but anyway the Dollar store is where I got mine and thank god I had one. Don't be surprise if you don't remember much about that day or maybe even the day after. **** I still don't remember who helped me get my pj top on 2 days after surgery, I just keep hoping it wasn't the hot male nurse who was on my wing that day...lol...
You'll do fine and we're all here to support you on your journey.

~~Hugs~~

Just a thought on the ear plugs....

Doctors will be visiting you very early in the morning, and some of mine got impatient if I didn't respond fast enough. One of my nurses was similar. Also, my last trip in October, I got a roommate who was....well ......crazy. I had the earplugs, but decided I wanted to be able to hear what she was doing.

If you cannot locate an eyemask, a washcloth is a good substitute. Theirs are very light in colour, and a bit scratchy, so bring your own.

Be seeing you soon!
