Okay, so what did everyone take to the hospital?

What will make my stay as comfortable as possible and maybe pass the time?  This is way different than having a baby....

I took way too much. Here are some things that I used.
Tooth Brush and tooth paste. Lip Balm is a must. Pads cause most likely you will start your cycle and better to be prepared. Shampoo and your own body wash. Sleeping mask, it saved me. i so wish I would have brought eat plugs though. Croggs or flip flops to wear in the shower and while walking. Gas-X strips. Loose fitting clothes to wear home.
I brought a book and I pod and touched neither one, I was too sick and when I felt better I walked and walked and walked and then came back and napped. Also they perfer is you wear their gown but after my shower I was in myown p.j's much more comfortable.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Just take your basic like Kee said.  I took books and never opend any as all I could do was sleep and when I was awake walked.
Good luck and hoping it all goes well for you.  I have no complaints about the care I got at the Alex.

Well I am packed and ready to go for tomorrow and I pack a small carry on bag... toiletries, socks, slippers, panties, my IPOD with zen music and a quick read novel to help pass the time. My hubby will be with me though so I am expecting him to entertain me...lol If you know what I mean... we are best friends so we can talk for hours about nothing...lol I thought about a house coat but I'm just gonna use theres. you can always rent a TV to help pass the time, or a cross word puzzle......maybe your own pillow would help you to get comfy....hand cream and a good chap stick for your lips until you can drink.... good luck and best wishes:)

I don't do well with alot of attention so I was just going to keep it quietly to myself.  I get really stressy very easily.  Which leads to tears (and used to lead to eating)..

Hello Dreena

First of all congrats...exciting isn't it???

When the weight starts to "peel off"...you will get lots of attention....so get used to it!  It will be possitive attention though...which is great!

For me, it wasn't the easiest thing to accept...when you have been overweight at long time, you don't want to be noticed..you hide from pictures or want to be in the back row (and at 5'3" that rarely happened for me). And now, there are people who I have known for years who I will walk by and they look but don't recognize me...hard sometimes!

BUT...when they do...they are amazed, excited and happy for me....so it all works out in the end.

Again...take a deep breath..and hang on...you will be on the ride of your life.

Hugs

Brenda

You're going to do GREAT!   You really, really are.

It wasn't that long ago that I was feeling the very same way!   The thing I'm most glad to have brought with me was EARPLUGS!!  Between all the noises of the machines and my room mate Olga (who didn't use a hearing aid although she desperately needed one - all her relatives yelled everything at her twice), I couldn't get any type of rest at all.  I finally clued in on the 2nd night and it helped immensely.  My longest stretch of sleep was only 2 hours but it made all the difference.

I wish you all the best and I know that you're going to do fantastically!
