Just found out I have hiatus hernia. Surgeon says that depending on its size I may not be able to have Lap Band after all. So ... I go in the next week or so for a barium swallow to see how big it is and determine whether I can have the LB surgery after all.
Anyone has a Hiatus Hernia that has prevented them from having surgery?
A little disappointed about the snag but trying to stay positive. Surgeon suggested sleeve may be other option. I've thought for so long that I was going to do lap band that I haven't even looked into the sleeve. Any feedback on the sleeve?
Has anyone had the sleeve done here in Calgary??
thanks for your help.

I had my sleeve surgery done in Edmonton on the 21st of September and I love it. It was thus far the best choice I've made in this lifetime. I am losing on average 3 pounds a week and I look and feel so much better. I know eventually it may slow down a little but I'm gonna enjoy it while it last.
My eating habits have changed for the better and being 13 weeks out I can eat about a 1/2 cup of food or about 2-3 oz of dense protein like chicken breast per meal. Some days I have a little more restriction than others but it's amazing to feel full on so little food and not to get hungry at all.
I used the info found on this site to help me make my choice of having the sleeve surgery over lap-band and I found it to be quite helpful.
Good Luck.
